Secret jardin DR 80 ????

I was thinking of getting one of these to veg my clones before my big room opens up. I had a couple questions.

1. do you need an intake fan or will a passive intake work? I plan on using my 4" HO canfan 155cfm for the exhaust and use a 6" duct as the passive intake. does that sound right or are those screens the intakes. Can't really tell from the pics that I've seen.

2. I would like to use my 175w mh , but it's one of those with the ballast built into the reflector it weighs 20.3 lbs. Is that gonna be a problem?

I'm hoping I can just take the stuff out of my cabinet and just use it in the DR80 . Don't really want to spend any more $$$ than I have to.

Thanks

they highly suggest having active exhaust but passive intake SHOULD be okay, but I would at least have some kind of air movement outside of the tent (it wont be lightproof if you use the vents they have)

the DR's can hold up to 65 pounds, however with a 175w and non-remote ballast you might be battling heat, even more so you will need a fan pushing air in and cooling that light. i would not think about growing in a tent without a remote ballast. set it up without plants and monitor the temps to see if it is okay

i have one and its awesome! i use it to veg and clone in..... i just put a shelf rack in it, i keep my moms on the top, and clones on the bottom. i use t5s to light the areas for the moms and for the clones. to vent it i just use the 4in canfan. their is enuff airflow just like that. its never any warmer than my house is... their is a 4in intake sleeve things on the bottom sides of the tent if u did wanna run an intake, but u wont need to imo. and their are two flaps u can open up on it too to let more air in their... ill try to put up a pic of my set up.

I run either a 250w or 400w HID in my DR80. I keep one of the bottom vent flaps open for fresh air. That keeps the plants happy and heavy.

Active intake booster fans

Active intake booster fans

Hey there. I recently fixed the classic light leak/intake problem inherent with these tents. I have a Dr60 that i veg and flower in.

If you only plan to veg in the tent on a 24/7 cycle, opening 2 of the 3 passive intake flaps on the bottom with suffice but obviously let in a lot of light.

Now, if you are planning to flower you will need to utilize the intake ports (the two round 4" ports on the bottom). since i have a DR60 (the smaller model), i got a 4" duct booster, which in this application (assisting existing intake airflow), works quite nicely.

Now since i use a vortex 4" exhaust (171 cfm) this works. If you are using a 6 inch you will probably need to use either two of these or more like a 6" booster fan with a 4 inch adapter.

Now these last two ideas are speculation since you have more space and heat to deal with than myself, but experiment with these cheap little booster fans and you should find a good balance.

Hope that helps a bit

i have two dr 80's. one for flower and one for veg. my veg chamber is currently running under just cfl's and there is no need for exhausting heats. everything is nice and easy. i need some sort of rack in there definately though.

my flowering tent has a 250w hps with ballast inside the tent, i have a c.a.p co2/air 4 that runs the 4" vortex fan, co2, etc.

i love my dr 80's although i wish they totally blocked the light inside from getting out.

here's my dr80... i used a wire rack to split up the room, top half for the moms and cloning, and the bottom half for veg. i use t5 lights, 4 24watts on the top, and 6 24watters on the bottom...

i was thinking of getting a tent for this exact reason. i wanna shelf in it and wanna be able to keep a couple moms, clones and veg some for flower. thinking of the dr120. just wanna make sure that i have enough room for moms and for a rack for diff stages of veg. think im gunna get a dark room or a grow lab but not sure which one yet.

excellent use of the space mister baggins :)

hbs - I have the dr120 and its pretty big mate. I don't know how many plants you want to veg/clone/mother in there but I'd suggest the dr120 is a little tardis. I have 800watts of HPS running in the dr120, just to give you an idea of its capacity (dr120s have 6 inch duct ports btw).. if it were me, I would use a dr80 to feed clones to my dr120 or a dr120 to feed a dr240.... but I'm also thinking that Bonsai mothers are the way to go ...hope that helps...

EDIT beware of DARKROOM STREET Edition - This edition is NOT light tight

edit 2 - in my dream set up I'd be running 2 x dr80s. One for veg and clone feeding to a single dr120 and one for sex games (breeding/crossing)

ya for sure not the street edittion.. i heard from bghydro that the darkroom tent supplier is really un-reliable so they decided to stop carrying them because its to hard to return it and get a new one if something goes wrong with one of them, so im leaning more twards these new growlab's which look like basically the same thing. i was thinking of the 80 but i jsut dont wanna run out of room again like i already did right now with my current setup and want room to keep like 3-4 moms , cuts and vegging so i might just go for the extra space. im gunna go to bg soon and see if they have one of these new tents setup .

great pics t.baggins. where did you buy your racks? i really don't know anything about racks, and i would like to maximize my space like you have done.
