searching for the northern lights #5

High guys,

i don't know if actually anybody can answer me that question, but I'm searching for some seeds of the northern lights #5. The only seedbank that has the real nothern lights is sensi seeds i think. But they don't sell seeds of their northern lights #5, they just have the "normal" northern lights. Of course the northern lights is a very very good thrain but the #5 pheno should be a bit better. But could it be possible if I grow out enough beans to find a pheno that is equal or at least compareable to what the NL#5 is?
I'm asking this because on the website of sensi seeds it's said that their northern lights is a wild cross of the three original NL phenos, I think that means of the NL#1, NL#2 and NL#5. So it should be possible i think.

But maybe someone of this forum has some experience with the strain and can tell me more.

Have a nice day guys and thank you for your answers :thank you:

Apparently Bodhi offers NL #5 regular seeds. No clue how they are, but considering the quality of their other genetics, it's probably very good.

i did have an experience with some nl#5 seeds, or at least called that by breeder
highgrade-seeds, canadian breeder, though he's become sketchy on delivery
heavy producer, light piney smell, kind of hashy taste
an extreme head rush for the 1st half hour, kind of like being strapped to a rocket booster
followed by a very sweet 3+ hour indica buzz, very sweet
i never did develop much of a tolerance for the head rush, which wasn't what i was looking for

Not even a possibility honestly NL#5 was a clone only his own version of NL#5 sure I guess even though very few have tried the original unhybridized.

Sensi Seeds has a NL#5 x Haze maybe other crosses but that's the one who made NL#5 famous. Closer to the cut may be Mr. Nice Ortega which is NL x NL#5 but Shantibaba and Nevil had to reselect the NL#5 Nevil did have the same seed stock he got the original NL#5 from so the story goes.

This is all true. Neville provided old seed stock to Shanti from NL#5. The ortega is NL#1xNL#5 however there are reports out there of hermie issues among some in that line. They are however cheaper price wise comparative to the Sensi version.

Bodhi's is a release of BCSC NL#5 in an F3 offering. My first ever run was BCSC NL#5 but I was a total NEWB and had no idea what I was doing other than having read a few books on the subject I hadn't ever even grown a regular plant at the time. BCSC is also still offering NL5 but not sure how they stack up to the old ones. Not sure when Bodhi obtained his from them either?

Another offering is Dr. Atomics which from reviews appears to be stellar and I can't remember exactly but believe I read at mrnice that Neville has commented that Dr. Atomics currently offers what he considers the best representation of NL currently available.....

I chose the original Sensi Seeds which is NL#1 and NL#2xNL#5. Hope to find something reminiscent of yesteryear!

Well, it depends I guess. If the selection of the F-generations of the original hybrid (I couldn't find any info on what has been used besides NL #5, but probably another NL) has been done throughly in the direction of the traits of the original NL #5, the results may be closer to the orginal than actual F1 versions.
But as you say, there are probably not many people that have tried the original NL #5, so there are very few people, who could tell whether Bodhis (or anyones) NL #5 is any close to the original.

Yeah, there are herm reports on everything I didn't get a hermie from Ortega and have talked to several others who didn't get a hermie. But there are a few others who bitched up a storm about getting hermies and mostly just a bunch of parrots repeating what they heard.

Certainly stress can be a big factor I could only imagine what a full line of Advanced Nutrients not used properly can do to a plant let alone all the other cannabis nute lines. I really think most people over feed like a bastard. I basically figure just keep them healthy and happy no point going overboard I can grow some dank tomatoes without a ridiculous nute line. KISS keep it stupid simple :)

But I am pretty sure that there is a little bit of Thai in NL#5 so she could be a little more herm prone I didn't have a problem though and nor have too many. Really I figure they sell 1 pack a week just at the auction alone but I can only think of 4 people claiming hermies with the line other than the parrots.

I am in total agreement as I too know of only a handful of folks at best reporting hermie issues. I am also the type not to touch AN and also feed respectfully according to plant needs and allowances not pushing the realm of highest ppm by any means. Ortega may come into play for me down the road but I am also interested in the Sensi Maple Leaf for certain purposes as a pure afghan cultivar as well.....

I think BCSC had the best NL5. This was back in 96ish. I would look for whoever has that breeding stock.

Dr Atomic has great NL crosses. I did the Nl x BB for six years straight it was so good. That was 97ish to 2004.

I too am interested in finding a good NL5 to grow soon. That is MY holy grail strain. Old School.
