search function question

How do I use the search drop down menu and search for two or more words together (example: Grand Daddy Purp)? When I type it in the search it searches for those three words seperately and I get a bunch of threads that have grand in them only, and purp in them only. I tried typing in "Grand Daddy Purp" with the perenthases around the words and that didn't work. Anyone have any suggestions, thanks.

Hi louie,
hit the search button and click on the advanced search, (just below the main box)
then type in your search, in this case, Grand daddy purp
then go to the drop down menu that says find posts from and switch it to yesterday and then switch the and newer to and older. Then click the as posts option rather than as threads. Then hit the search now button.

Hope that helps, you always have to use the advanced search.

Thanks GMT, but when I do as you say and type in grand daddy purp it still searches for the words grand, daddy, purp seperately. That will give me threads with just the word purple and not the whole "phrase" grand daddy purp. Is there a way to search for the whole thing so that the search keyword show: grand daddy purp. Instead of grand, daddy, purp. ?

I tried it out, and I got lots of posts with the whole phrase in them, are you sure you followed the instructions exactly? Including switching from threads to posts?

I'm not sure how much difference it makes but you could try putting a plus between the words - grand+daddy+purp. Like GMT says, you get the best results using the advanced search
