sealed room question

F

im new to sealed rooms and was wondering if its as simple as using a bedroom, stapling poly on all surfaces, and using caulk/sealant on the A/C in and out holes to make sure they are sealed off. i cant imagine it would be necessary to construct a wooden room inside an already existing room.

also, do growtents (secret jardin darkroom in particular) have the ability to be ran as sealed rooms?

it is necessary to build a room inside of a room due to the heat from the condenser side of the ac. that has to be extracted/exhausted.

that is the only real exhaust from a sealed room. if there is a way to attach an ac to an existing window, or have a way to separate the condenser side of the ac from the room, then no need to build room inside of room. as long as the entryway into the room is capable of being fully weather sealed.

little air leaks will make ac less efficient.

thanks for the reply. i should have been more clear. the room has a window and im using a portable a/c with dual hoses. so i was going to make some sort of camo box for the window, put poly up, and put the a/c's dual hoses out the window and make sure that the seals around the vents are airtight. oh yah, and put up a poly doorway / flap so that there is an air-lock between the room's actual door and the poly door. but yah basically what you said is exactly what i was thinking, thanks.

You dont need to cover the room in poly, that would only be for reflecting light and wouldnt help seal much at all. You could paint the room flat white

Just seal all the outlets, windows, etc and you have a sealed room.

Also ditch the portable A/C. They just dont work very well.

When people refer to a "sealed room" they don't mean hermetically sealed,at least I dont.A sealed room has no ventilation and the more "airtight" the better of course but sealed means non-ventilated to me.I run a sealed flower room with co2 and a window AC.Why arent you using a window AC if you have a window? If you plan on using co2 enrichment which is why people run sealed rooms a dual hose portable will fuck up your plans Stan.I'm serious it will deplete your co2 no questions asked.I've been through all of this. And if you use co2 use a controller not a cyclestat or again you're just spinning your wheels

window opening too small for a window a/c . i believe certain dual hose models work well. time will tell. i will test for negative pressure before installing co2 and starting the op. if dual hose doesnt work ill build window box... ugh hate building

thx for input

ill still throw poly down to protect the carpet

i do :) and my propane tank is on it's 4th week or so and will easily go 6 or 7. i only need a 2 burner generator and it only runs for barely over a minute.

You're most likely gonna want CO2 enrichment, dehumidifier, air conditioner, and a scrubber configured to recirculate.

yes, all those. but the a/C i am looking at has a built in dehumidifier so i dont think i need a separate unit.

you'll most definately need a seperate dehumidifier.

Be prepared to buy one if your not able to keep your RH under 60% at ALL TIMES.

have to admit, went up to 3 dehumidifiers in an attempt to maintain a CAE... then battled the heat. went semi-closed with the air-cooled lights pulling air in & out. i couldn't dial it in. gl brah!
