Scrubber box with air filters for the friend that asked about carbon dust!

Sorry Friend who I promised to post pictures of the scrubber box i made.

I can't find your thread to post. It spaced it out a couple of days.

So here is the box I made and use.

I can pull up the construction photos if anyone is interested. The formula to calculate the 4mm pellet space i tried to find the other day but it's on another web site and i forgot so i can find that if there is enough need

Really a prefilter catches a lot of dust and a post filter catches carbon dust. I do that so i can use the heat from the lights in winter and not worry about fine cola/carbon dust in the air.

Also my 8 inch vortex just sits on the box in one of those couplers.

Did you wash the carbon first? A colander/strainer and lots of running water will go a long way to eliminating carbon dust.

It holds about 25 lbs of 4 mm pellets and no I have never thought to wash it but I do blow it with the vacuum while the fan sucks out the dust. I also shake and pound it with a rubber maillot to settle the pellets so it's as full as possible.

I guess getting the carbon wet will be okay as it will dry..

Do you think that will effect the life of the carbon?

I have a new 55 lb bag so I'm ready to do something :)

Technically, I suppose it would have to (unless you used distilled) but, I suspect it ultimately benefits by allowing air to hit the actual carbon, the surface of which is already restricted by use of pellets as opposed to granules.

I'll research but I think I'll blow it like always today. i appreciate the suggestion and will keep it in mind.
I've had great results with this box. I also have a can made that i use. I guess one can never be too safe on odor.

I've never used granules but the pellets have worked fine! They last a long time!
It's just that you are on the "radar" when you order 55 lbs that's for sure
But i don't order often so that's cool.. And this time they didn't require a statement of use like last time. Thankfully.. After 9/11 it was an item of interest or john law I guess.
