hey! a good material (from what I have read, I have not used it) is garden trellis. Tape or tie it to your frame in a mesh type pattern and you got yourself a good screen!
i use chicken wire
picked up a roll of it at home depot for under ten bucks
a little hard to work with, keeps wanting to curl back up
i did it by myself though, woulda been easier if i had someone else though
or layed it flat, and put something on top of it for a couple days
then i used zip ties to secure it to my pvc...border?
PVC frame with holes drilled every two inches around....
Thread with 40 lb. test fishing line in a weave pattern.
The fishing line is ultimately flexible so you can get those shoots exactly where you want them. You can also open any opening almost as wide as you want.... very handy when you've forgotten to train for a week and she's got big branches to pull through!
I use the garden trellis, solid product, highly flexible, gentle on the plants and should you break the fabric it doesn't come unraveled. I use the 5' x 15', stretched and stapled to a 4' x 12' (2x4) frame. 7 USD and it is re-usable.
Merman, that is a sanitary set-up you have there, real tight!
Thanks alot guys...i think im going to go with that fishing line set up....i just ordered a aeroponics system so im goin to scrog the sh*t out of it...i loved the way me homemade DWC performed so hopefully somthing built by professionals works a little better...thanks again...
Levitikuz, if you go with the 40# test, weave each strand separately so if you cut or break one the whole thing will not unravel, in other words don't make it a continuous run.
I used a continuous run pattern.... I've had the same screen for two years......The only reason it would come apart is if you cut it with a blade or scissors. The line itself will never break... 40lb test is serious stuff, but if you have doubts, get 60lb or even 80!
Cutting and tying 40lb test fishing line is a pain in the ass....but do what you want.
i use fencing as well, but i use the metal kind. have a dog kennel im just gonna put the girlies in next time, seems to be tightly woven enough. fishing line doesnt cut into the stems?
I like Merman's idea as I have done exatly the same thing as far as the frame. I used constuction string/twine. Nylon braided and bright orange. But it unravells(sp?) when cut and needs to be melted back. Go with the fishing line. Great set-up Merman!!
