Scrog?

Hello everyone,

I've been looking around and have found myself becoming increasingly curious about Scrog growing. Since I only grow around 4 plants at a time, start 6 seedlings, separate the males, if my than 4 females I take out the weaker ones, I was thinking about doing a scrog growth to maximize my growth under 4 150 watt florescents. What I have been wonduring is how exactly to do a scrog? I've read forums about people doing it but have not found step by step instructions on what to do. If I remeber there was on on OG but since it got shut down I have been unable to find one. I did search on this site without luck, found 500 results and looked through the first 100 without luck, so thought I'ed ask here. I'ed be happy with a link or even better if youed care to explain it yourself. I just want a good explanation on what to do, what stage of growth to do it in ect. It would be much appreciated.

Scrog is usually done with clones, for the simple fact that u "train" ur plants to grow threw a screen. You do this in the vegeatative stage. You can do this with plants grown from seed but it's a little more tricky, cuz u dont wanna train a male to go threw that screen. It's basically Vegging a MJ plant...during this as it grows taller u train the growing shoots to grow thru the screen... each potental top thru a opening in the screen. This helps create multiple tops that are supported...and even in profile...that way u get the best out of your light cuz all the buds are at the same size. There are several ways. One is LST which you tie the top of the plant down with string. The other one is what Opt1983 said, you put a screen over the top of your plants and they they will grow through the screen. It is also the easist one to do too!

I heard it increases yield too. How is this? And with tieing the tops down is that best to do with clones too and when would you go about do that?

Oh and one other thing would like a wire fence work as a screen? Like what is the easiest and works best as far as screens go?

It increases yield cuz the plants stalk and branches nearly double in size, to hold more weight from budds. Also your bending the upper parts of the plant down to the same height as lower branches, making the plant turn into an even canopy. You should go about tying the tops before flowering, but if not chech the stalk/branches to see if they are still bendy then go for it. Chicken wire over some sort of wooden frame wood work well. Cloth like hemp would work better thats what I used.
