ScrOG Questions - Scrogging with 3000 watts

Hey all,

This is my first post here at icmag. I've seen a lot of awesome threads here before though, so I figured you guys would have some good advice for me.

I'm considering new room design possibilities. I'm hoping to setup in a 10x14 (feet) room with 3,000 Watts.

I've read and watched a lot of videos about ScrOGging, and I think that's the method I want to use. I'm Allowed under 10 plants. Planning on going 2 per 1000W light, for a total of 6 plants. From seed. Also planning on using 15 GAL smart pots for a soil grow.

So, to all Scroggers out there, here are a few questions:

1) String versus fencing/chicken wire for the screen material?

2) How high should you set your screen above the base of the stem? If height is not an issue, is there benefit to making the screen higher?

3) Could I make one giant screen measuring nearly 12x5 to place all 6 plants under? Or make smaller screen?

4) Should the plants be trained heavily with LST, Topping, and/or Supercropping before even reaching the screen?

5) Based on ^^, how long should I expect to veg 2 soil plants under each 1000W in a ~4x5 ft area?

This probably sounds amateur, but your advice will go a long way!

Thanks 4 reading

I am in the process of a 3k SCROG as well. Take what you will from my advice I'm rather not nearly as experienced or smart or as good looking as some of these other people.

1 - String, won't hurt the plants

2 - 12-18-24+ inches depending on final plant height you'd like to achieve I guess. Higher up, less training but more support, lower is the opposite so hit the middle :moon:

3 - Buy the tomato screens from lowes/HD/amazon and cut them in half, zip tie to a frame(5x5) of wood/pvc whatever. Or, make them with twine, blunts and patience.

4 - I'd say strain dependent (Ind/Sat) but at least top and LST a bit when they are young to get more tops, max out lowers, top again THEN snap necks if they get squirly. But some girls like it rougher than others so...you know...trial and error.

5 - 2 weeks to a month depending on strain, enviroment, luck, etc. I overvegged mine and I would say be wary of that as they become almost impossible to stake/support if you're not careful.

Best of luck!

Thanks Amoeba.

If you don't mind, I've got another question... How much do you yield in your setup?

Just wondering how hard it will be to hit a target 3# from 3 lights.

I have 2 trays of GSC for about 24, and 1 tray of seeds I'm hunting that has about 14 plants on it. Cookies I'll be lucky to hit a Lb a table, test table I'll probably do 1.5 if I'm lucky but I'm saying closer to 1lb. I vegged for about a month, drip system in coco drain to waste.

This is my first run with this equip in this room and probably my last full GSC run as she's beautiful and tasty but super low yield. 3# from 3 is very do-able.
