Scrog / Lighting

Getting ready to start a new 5x5 Scrog with sour kush (headband). Im also going to be switching from HID to LED. Im getting a SPYDR 1200 (cant freakin wait) Unfortunately I wont have my SPYDER before I get going on my new grow. Is it ok to start vegging under 600 watt MH then switch to the SPYDER 1000 LED a few weeks in to veg?

I just went back from a 650W LED to 1K bare bulb. The LED did grow it but my height restrictions didn't allow me enough room between the light and the tops. heat was a little more manageable and there were no worries about fires (my/our biggest worry).

I wouldn't worry about switching but start the LED a little farther from the tops, at least to start. Good Luck. Headband is supposed to be stellar.

Cool and thats pretty much what i figured. Curious though why a 1k buld gives you more room above than the LED?
