scrog cabinet "mesh"

i've been given some garden mesh that I am thinking of using for my SCROG that i'm building.

question I have is, what is the optimum size mesh people use for a SCROG? i've seen a lot of people use 1"x1" squared plastic mesh, however it looks like a lot of space is wasted with this.

would 1/2"x1/2" or 3/8"x3/8" squares be too small for a SCROG?

As long as the plant can get through there, and it is not cutting of circ. of nutes in teh stems you are fine, it makes no difference if the light passes through the screen, you are only growing on top of the screen. Just increase your ventilation, so fresh air moves below the screen

Good luck with your grow

^^^^^ This! I'm using a 2" squared plastic mesh with no problems whatsoever. As long as the plant isn't going to be physically restricted by the mesh size you should be great!

I would not go any smaller than 1". Anything smaller than that and it will probably be a real bitch training them. Plus you want some room in between the buds so you can get some air flow in there.

Can you find a smaller roll? Yeah, I'm in the US but, mine's 25 feet (40" or 1 meter tall) Cost about $12.

I guess i'd have to shop around more..

Make a frame out of anything handy...plastic PVC pipe, whatever. Drill holes in it. Make your "screen" out of solid copper wire with the plastic insulation left on.

Or look around stores for something cheap you can buy and use part of as a screen...like some laundry baskets. The bottom is like a large "mesh".

More than one way to skin a cat..right?

Is that the stuff they use for snow fences and around construction sites? If so, I think it would work. All ya need is a scrap of it. Should be free.

of 40 pound test fishing line 'weaved' through the frame. Its ultimately flexible, won't break (unless your buds weigh 40 pounds), and is availble just about anywhere for very little $$$.
