Scrambling for a spot to put my males...

Mr.Meds

The ice is getting thinner and the balls are growing larger. I need a spot for that white russian male. I foresee an additional pure power plant male coming into this picture. Usually I would have a spot handy but right now I cant use that place.

I'll update tomorrow with pictures of the WR.

Any Ideas?

Wh@ is the plant growing in?
Size? time/space/light limitations?

You could make an isolation chamber out of a 44 gal drum or 60L-100L clear plastic tub...

or snip the branches off and collect pollen from them...this could be done elsewhere or in a clear plastic tub with lid to keep the pollen contained...

More info might help if you're after suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!
Wardrobe boxes...That's clever. I wonder if my local walmart would have one of those that you linked james. Looks like i'll be doing some shopping today. I'll update shortly with pictures of the male, It's not big by any means but the PPP may be pretty big. Currently I only have 4ft T-5's and flouros hanging around for supplementing light, and they won't fit in most areas. "I'll be back"

Glad u made this post mr meds.. guess ill be needing to do the same for a blue streak male to hit the d ryder and blue ladies..i think i can fix up a spot..if u will post a pic here, when u get it done.maybe that will help my idea more.maybe the ppp will be better then the mazar..but they were free , so its all good

good luck on this

Very nice male WR you got there Mr.Meds. Have fun with all that pollen. I've also got a micro box just for males/breeding projects. Worth keeping one around. Glad you found a fix.

Here's what I do with my males:

Cut a branch off the male that has some nice ready to explode pollen sacks on it, as if I was taking a cutting, place branch in a glass of water, dispose of the male.

Now im left with a branch full of ready-to-drop pollen. Now you just need to find somewhere/something to set it on for collection of pollen.(A Plate, a dish, a piece of glass, a mirror)

Also you dont need a strong light for pollen to drop, most of the time my branches sit under indirect light from an incandescent.

This method works perfectly for gathering pollen if you have space limitations.

That's very clever Nicoli. I have actually thought of that and never tried it. I start a lot of different kinds of plant cuttings directly in water too. Our water here is very very pure and mineral rich. Thanks for your contribution! I'm sure that I will try that sometime when I'm overwhelmed with males.

Well it looks like I have gotten ANOTHER male in a feminised pack. My conditions are perfect so I can't be stressing them into it. So very strange. I've had this happen in the last 2 years more than ever. Pollen contamination? Anyway, this time it's a DieselRyder.... Figuring I'll probably keep it.

Never mind... Make that two males... I just discovered a male auto-ak as well.. I'm not a fan of "fem" seeds, never have been.
