SCOTUS: GPS Trackers Are a Form of Search and Seizure

If the government puts a GPS tracker on you, your car, or any of your personal effects, it counts as a search—and is therefore protected by the Fourth Amendment. The Supreme Court clarified and affirmed that law on Monday, when it ruled on Torrey Dale Grady v. North Carolina (PDF), before sending the case back to that state's high court. The Court's short but unanimous opinion helps make sense of how the Fourth Amendment, which protects against unreasonable search and seizure, interacts with the expanding technological powers of the U.S. government. "The only theory we discern [...] is that the State's system of nonconsensual satellite-based monitoring does not entail a search within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment. That theory is inconsistent with this Court's precedents."

damn techno-nazis will still do it, but not bust the guy whose car they tracked, and lie to get a search warrant for the guy he visited.

I got mine from a company called great southern security I think it was...its a black box looking thing with 3 led lights...picks up all kinds of bugs, gps, hell even the microwave sets it off..about 4 inches tall 3 inches wide and about 1/1/2 inches thick...I can post up a pic latr ..... it did find a tracker on a friends car once a bit back.. which was then driven to lawyers office and dropped off...it was collected by the feds soon after...yeehaw... them days are over for me... FWIW some of those gps trackers are only activated by motion so scanning the car sitting wont show anything..know thy enemy and his tricks
