I collect the pollen, let it sit for a day, then sift through very fine stainless steel tea ball strainer. Then I put the pollen in foil packets I can write strain/date on. Put the packets into a small ziplock bag. Bag goes into a half pint jar with some damp-rid (desiccant). Vacuum seal jar and stick in freezer.
I have made seeds with pollen that's over 10 yrs old that I've saved using this method. I do find the older pollen tends to produce more male seeds for some reason.
