Save your seeds

Hey everybody, while I was on vacation I did some reading of a few periodicals, I found an interesting topic that got me thinking, and it has been 3 weeks and I am still thinking about it.
The article talked about how seeds from all food plants are being genetically modified for the benefit of the commercial seed producer. This would include, changing the normal growth cycle of the plant and causing the seeds to be a termination seed, meaning that the seeds stop at that plant, they will not grow anymore, unless you buy seeds from a manufacturer.
I was pretty outraged while I was reading this, so I thought I could get some other just as disturbed as I am about it.
Here is some info
http://www.saveourseeds.org/en/index.php

Nancy Levant:
Let us also consider Monsanto Corporation. On top of creating Agent Orange, Monsanto now owns the patents to animals and seeds. Let me say that again: Monsanto Corporation, the creator of Agent Orange, now owns the patents to animals and seeds. If corporations can "own" animals and seeds, what rights do you have to God's animals and seeds?

Equally, the "terminator" gene, which renders such corporate seeds sterile and was developed with USDA resources, is an unconscionable technology due to the fact that it destroys life and destroys the right of farmers worldwide to save seeds — the primary necessity to grow food and feed world's people. Why, tell me, are they sterilizing the seeds of the world's food crops when millions of people starve to death every year?

Genetic engineering involves taking a gene from one species and splicing it into another to transfer a desired trait. This does not occur in nature where the transfer of genetic traits is limited by the natural barriers that exist between different species. Genetic engineering is also called biotechnology. Another name for genetically engineered crops is genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

When you think of genetically modified foods, ask yourselves about the "environmental" movement to protect nature. See and hear the diabolical dialectic in action. Also consider the genocide of cats and dogs — billions of cats and dogs — by nature-loving "humane" societies — and once again, the key word being "genocide." Please note that one of the first and primary diagnostic tools used to determine sociopathic tendencies and behaviors is the slaughter of animals. And please consider — all pet owners are now barbarians if they do not sterilize their pets. We are talking about mass sterilization — in the multi-billions — of entire species of animals — minus, of course, the thoroughbred and select animals of the rich. And as a side note, there are current and legislated efforts to eliminate large dog breeds from the homes of commoners. 75 large dog breeds, including Lassie and golden retrievers, are now disallowed to be owned by commoners in many, many cities and villages in our nation. When you think of large dogs, think of family protectors.

Lots more info online, just google GMO

whoa those were pretty informative. that sucks bigtime! First the one lifecycle seeds and then the food destined to give you medical problems. Sounds like some heavy shit!

I agree. I watched the film "The future of food" today.
it's free at google videos. It really got me thinking. I have always been a seed saver, but this film has encouraged me to do more. I am not zoned to raise live stock,
but I will grow as much of my food as possible.
I have been also reading up on edible weeds in your back yard.

first of all go online & find all the fruit and veggy seeds you'd ever want right now....... they're out there, then just like weed do some growing & select seeds from stellar examples of each.

I'd like to try some tomatoes this spring.

Man i wish i had saved the seeds from back in the days in the early 90's in queens(flushing) nyc!! in highschool i would get this bud that was so skunky and stinky it was amazing. When you read of Somas encounter with NYCDiesel you hear of a rasta friend who brought seeds back from a trip to nyc in the late 90's and it turned out to become nycdiesel!. Well im pretty sure the buds i used to burn pretty much on the regular were of that diesel variety or of a very stinky regular SKUNK variety.

Buds from that era and from that part of the country was always SEEDED!!(which at the time was of no use to me, altho i had my little plant i grew here n there i never brought them to fruit, but the bud was incredibly consistent and plentyfull. There was no 8ths or 1/4's etc...you bought dims and 20's bags(what it hink were 8ths im not sure cuz at the time i didnt weigh them i was a teen) or sacks...hydro or chronic wasnt even around..but this bud was relatively cheap and it was inredible quality!! the guy i evnetually got to know said it was grown out doors in the propper season....buti dunno.

I guess what im trying to say is... if you get some kind looking buds... and they smell really good and you pop some seeds out of the bud whilst breaking it up...save them...and keep them around....cuz i sure wish i had kept my seeds when i was younger...like 14 yrs ago n shit!!! who knows i might have some incredible buds even the same style seeds soma himself got way back when he created NYCD!

Dr. Dog great read!
Thanks for posting all that info.
the future of seeds, food and water is in peril.

I wonder if Monsanto will one day find a way to charge farmers for
every hour of sunlight that they use?
Might sound crazy but a few years ago the thought of a plant or a pig
having a patent was ... patently absurd!

Hey Med breeder

I stumbled across this article and was outraged, that this type of thing is goin on.

It would not surprise me if Monstao did that, but I would assume that, they would more likely buy all the land, and that way they would have complete control and an insane amount of power

There is so much resistance to GMO's in Eurpoe and Japan,
Why is there no uproar in America? The future of the Family faem and our food supply hangs in the balance. It's only a matter of time before the apple farmers in Washington state, the potato farmers in Idaho, the sugar cane growers in Florida etc are affected.

not to mention if Monsanto ever decides to be the sole provider of medical marijuana to the progressive states that now allow it.

I imagine a day when all of our favorite breeder's work will be stolen by Monsanto.
