Sativa Harvest Different Than Indica?

I just harvested two Indica. The trichomes were 70%Cloudy/30%Amber and I dont think I could have got any luckier with how it turned out.

The problem is I have two more plants ready for harvest that are Sativa

The hairs are 95%Red/5%White(new hairs) and the trichomes are 80%cloudy/15%clear/5%Amber. My question is.....is it true that for Sativas you need to harvest at first sign of amber colored trichomes?

No not true let them get a little bit more devolped..... its all the same. mostly amber is pref, it should only be a couple more days. Keep checking casue they will change rapidly I found out. GL

I don't think most folks would agree that mostly amber is preferable.
Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you want tho'...

mostly amber means alot of the THC as started to degrade i have 2 sativa pheno blueberry kush been in flower over 100 days now i'll check her trics tonight but i'm sure shes still mostly clear. she has maybe 30-40% red hairs now

I had a sativa in my first grow and she turned pink, but it took FOREVER to bloom that bitch. I had to wait until week 16 or something close to that, I lost count after I hacked my Indicas. I never really seen any Amber trichs on her, and very few cloudy ones. But I cut her down once all the fan leaves where dead. See:





You can see the fan leaves all starting to die and at the very end she went HOT PINK. I was freaking out.

FYI: I grew her 12/12 from seed in shitty expert brand from wally world soil.

Let her grow is what I say. She will tell you when the end is near!!!

If the variety you have,which looks great btw,is known for causing racy head spinning heart palpitations,paranoia and all that,and that is what you want,cut it while it's mostly clear.With some varieties,letting a % of trichs cloud or turn amber seems to alleviate the raciness.So does a good long cure.Pure sats sometimes need several months cure.
Hey Drunken Monkey.What the hell is that??I never seen a Sat look zactly like that.From the looks of that cola,it must have some indica in it.(??)Wonder if it would grow that well under a 150?Man,I love that plant.Heh,hot pink hairs.Thanks for the pics.

Hey Hardhat, I dont know if his plant makes you do all those things, but mine sure does and like I said it flowered for like 16 weeks before it looked like what you see in the pics. I also moved that specific plant to a friends house for the last 3 weeks before I chopped it and her basement was freezing. I am assuming the cold temps made that plant think it really was winter coming, so it turned pink.

The buzz made my cheeks really warm and numb feeling. I was very awake and willing to be active right after I smoked it. It made for a great daytime weed, because it didn't get you too high. Very mild medium buzz.

So I don't know, I think it might be pretty pure sativa. If you check out this thread my plant looks like a miniature version of theirs. They are outside with a plant ment to grow huge and I did it under cfl's 12/12 from seed.

well sry for some miss info but i thought that they were all the same as that went. but i picked up some mad dog the other day. has anyone ever heard of it. I think its a train wreck/something cross and it has pink hairs all over it too.

Strawberry Cough and Power Plant from DP took forever to finish. Good daytime strains though.
If you prefer a heady high I hear that harvesting a little early is the way to go.

Mr Piston.It's not that your advice is wrong.It's just that,with sativas things can be a little touch and go at times.The best answer to ANY question about sativas is;Grow it out a few times and see what works best".One person can grow out a certain sat and come to a completely different set of conclusions and end products than the next guy growing out the same sat.Sativas can be finicky and downright strange at times.Your advice could be more better than my advice,he won't know untill he tries a few times with the same genes.
