sativa delights! new grow, 3 hybrids to test

I'm still in the process of building my new room, but I like longer veg times so I'm hoping I'll be done by the time my plants are ready to flower. :)

first to be planted were 10 seeds by an Australian grower, a hybrid he calls Sydney Dragon. It is made from a BC Skunk plant pollenated by a Guatemalan sativa male. After 48 hours I have six of ten above the soil.

Currently soaking, and going into Jiffy-7 pellets tonight: Blue Filth by lonestar, and a hybrid of (Hawaiian Sativa x Skunk) x wild Thai, given to me by Variety Jones. The Blue Filth contains some blueberry, some sweet tooth #3, and some "MountainFilth" <-- another aussie strain I am assuming. Has anyone here grown the Blue Filth or the Haw.Sat. x Skunk before? Any info would be welcome.

With all the skunks in the mix, upgraded odor control might be a good idea also! ;)
I am a student as well as a grower, so I may not have the time to keep this grow log updated at first... but harvest should fall nicely in the late summer (at a rough guess) which will mean lots of leisure for pot-ography and writing. Or so I hope! Anyway, it should be a sativa good time for all.

more info soon,

Thanks!

Thanks!

I appreciate the good words.

Nine out of ten of the Sydney Dragons are up and growing! :D
the Blue Filth and (Haw.Sat x Skunk) x Thai will be planted later tonight.

edit 14-04-2004: 4 of five are up for both the Blue Filth and Hawaiian Thai! :D I have a lot of room construction still to do, but I got out the 65w Fluorex work lamps, and I have them trained on the new seedlings. Those Fluorexes can grow the hell out of some vegging plants; They are my favorite lights so far (though I haven't tried halide).

update 4-25

update 4-25

here is the current, very temporary set-up... this is just until I can get a proper veg and bloom room built. Seems to be working well so far, though!

a few current photos:
blue filth-

hawaiian thai-

and the very promising Sydney Dragons, a BC Skunk (x) Guatemalan sativa... two weeks old today.

I love the excitement of seeing a new hybrid develop. It's a world of surprises...

no more photos, eh?

well things are coming along nicely... these plants will get a good extended vegging and I expect they are probably about halfway there. Repotting began yesterday and will coninue later today; 6 or 8 inch square pots (I forget at the moment) until flowering, when they will go into five-gallon buckets of organic soil mix.

flowering mix so far: about half last year's soil (sam's choice soil + perlite; blood and bone meal added before last grow) and half mushroom compost. two scoops of vermiculite added per 5gal bucket also, for good water retention.

yee hah!

yee hah!

two plants showed female preflowers today; Blue Filth #3 and Hawaiian Thai #1!

I'm stoked, now I know I'll get to taste at least one example of each hybrid. The maker of the Sydney Dragons told me that they don't generally show sex until a ways into flowering. But out of nine healthy plants surely I can get at least one female... only struck out that badly one time (nine males out of ten) so far.

finger crossed!

I may well open-pollenate the haw.thai and the sydney dragons for later experimentation... the Blue Filth, as an already-worked multihybrid, is not for breeding but I will clone them in case a keeper female turns up.

more news and maybe some pics to come later.

coming right along

coming right along

the Sydney Dragons are flowering now; one week and counting.

The other two strains are still in veg; I am going to have a vegetable traffic jam soon if I don't use my space wisely. The vegging plants are overgrowing my veg area... the best solution would be to upgrade my light from the current 400W to the 1K I had intended for this space. I'm a little busy but I should be able to get two it within a couple of weeks.
That will be nice because it means my Blue13 plants will get to finish under a stronger light... and they rocked under the 400W to begin with. Great yield from the Blue13s.

here are some Dragons...

Every grow i see with some good genes is going great.
This grow is one of those.
Your plants look very healthy and hopefully will stay healthy till the end of there time.
