Sassy's 2017 sungrown organic garden

Hi, :)

So, I'm slowly getting ready for next summers outdoor garden grow and have already made a selection of strains I hope to cultivate;

818 Headband, Afgooey, Pineapple Chunk, Vanilla Kush, Blue Cheese and with a little luck, I may even have Freezeland as well as Mango. Other strains I have that I may crack are; Shiva x Big Freeze, Herijuana, White Rhino, Durban Poison and also Gods Blue Cheese.

I'm up at 47ºL so even if summers are hot and humid, it does tend to cool down real fast as soon as September rolls around and early finishers are best.

Here a the first cracked seeds in jiffy plugs with still more to come, and so it begins :)

Growing organic is the way to go fer sure. Nothing like knowing your personal stash contains zero chemical residue. Standing by to read of more news about this project, Lady Farmer.

Get it! Are those seeds destined to go in the ground or are you going to grow cuts of them?

I'm subbed for some early season action.

Update: lost my seedlings to damping off, but no worries as I have started over and with a pretty decent line-up, here's an image.

I have a landrace strain from the Azad region in Kashmir, another that is a cross between Durban Poison x Cheese, also G13 x Cheese, Afgooey, White Rhino, Gods Blue Cheese, Deep Purple by JOTI, Vanilla Kush, UBC Chemo and Shiva x Big Freeze. So far, they seem to be popping as expected. :)

Don't stress it's hella early for full season starts anyway. Good luck.

Went back to the drawing board and tried cracking a new batch of seeds using a different approach. I got jiffy plugs ready by watering them down with hot water and then squeezing out excess water and allowing them to cool off a little, then I placed seeds that I soaked for a few minutes in 3% peroxide solution right in those jiffy plugs and waited until the all began to germinate. It worked like a charm. :)

Here's a pic I took a few days ago, got 28 seedlings already transplanted into starter pots and with more to come.

That kashmir line sure sounds interesting! I'm at the same lat as you and the freeze is one of the best early-ish lines for my local climate. Is there a reason for starting them in the jiffy pucks as opposed to directly in the starter pots? Seems like an unnecessary step, but looks like you're off to the races now anyway. Best of luck, I'm anxious to see that Azad.

Things are progressing fine, seedlings and young plants all doing well, found one male UBC Chemo and promptly got rid of it. I have 1 interesting cross I received from a friend, it's Kryptonite x Cheese, not yet sexed so still unclear if I will have it outdoors at all, but I'd like to get some feedback from those in the know if this is a cross that will finish early enough outdoors, I think I read that Kryptonite takes something like 9-12 weeks, and I'm up at the 46º L North. I know it looks to be a big producer and it's effects sound promising, waht say you? :)

A little update on how the plants are coming along, I just began transplanting some of the larger ones into bigger pots, with more to do in the next couple of days. Found on UBC Chemo that was a male and got rid of it, otherwise, difficult to tell the sex on some of them, but they will express sex soon enough. :)

Thank you, for me, organic growing simply means using organic matter, like the organic matter found in the soil, such as what is left after vegetable and animal decomposition. It's all the micro-organisms in the soil and how it is transformed into nutrients and life within the soil. I make use of local composted soil from a nursery ( I buy it in quantity enough to last me ) as well as those additives I can safely put in the soil; worm castings, rabbit poop, blood and bone meal, coffee grounds, composted kitchen scraps, etc,.

To the above, I also add epsom salt, sulfur, lime, perlite and a little mycorrhizae. To fertilize, for now, since I'm indoors and there's still plenty of snow on the ground outdoors, I fall back on fish emulsion as feed in veg cycle. Been doing this for a few years and they get real big and tasty. Of course, once outdoors, I do make teas from what I come across around the house ( comfry, dandelion, etc,. ) used in foliar sprays and to drench soil around the plants.
