Hi everyone! Whoowhoooy to ICMAG!

I want to share these old photos I took in the ole SouthEast when Shrimp boats kept the "Docks by the Bay" busy under full moon lit nights without DEA presence, it was like a big PARTY! crazy i said..........LOL

I took this pic below Griffin,GA. at a croquet tournament that lasted a week on a farm in the country. I was quite high when I took these with my F2...

This pipe turned up when I started passing around Gold Bud Joints. I went home, got my camera and chunks of goldbud, and returned to be able to use this pipe with the legendary Santa Marta Gold grown by the Indians in Columbia.

Here is a close up: Remember this is 29 years ago!

And alittle closer.

Thanks everybody! Love, Desi!

Smokescreen By Robert Sabbag

Smokescreen By Robert Sabbag

Desi,

Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing some personal history of the SMG.

SMG became legendary in the US in part by a man named Alan Long. If you smoked SMG back in the 70's in the US, it likely came from one of his loads. The book "smokescreen" by Robert Sabbag is a great book full of history on the SMCG. It became Alan Long's mission to supply his friends and community (Ann Arbor Mich) with "the best pot in the world" he said, SMCG.

There is a character in the book that would ritualistically soak his gold buds daily in SMG oil and hang them to dry so they'd be ready the next day for the wake n bake.

Imagine waking and baking to SMG soaked in SMG oil? Can you say heaven? :yoinks:

Peace

:ying:

Let's see, it was one of the ingredients to Skunk#1. That in it'self means everything we smoke these days, unless it's a landrace, probably (GMT), has SantaMartaCG genes as predominates, ya know?

Stashsecrets, Steve Lamb, was the one we all new as bigtime here in the south or Florida. I was in Georgia, and they came to us because Savanah was the new drop off point at this particular time spring 1977. The gold bud in my pictures had an orangie taste to it. The high made you feel like a million dollars, I swear!

Hey Guerilla1018, it was a sweet time.

FarmerJohn, man I can smell it now!

easyrasta, I have some Jamaican Gold seeds, that probably be close, but some pure is where it's at!

stashsecrets, great info contribution bro!

Thanks guys, those were the days, but I love all the varieties too!!

Hey Lou, oh ya, it was 29 years ago!

Yes you do, golden thru and thru! The SMCG spurned modern cannabis, no? Florida was smugglers paradise at one time. It's like a southern Kentucky.........now...right?

The Jamaican that comes from Florida has always been a New England staple, unless you had/have a connection down south.. 2001 fucked up alot boating/air routines. so now we grow!

Thank you for your inspiration with your grew grows bro!

Man, I wish that I could fire that bowl right up,it looks very sweet. I wish that I could smoke something again from back in the day and see if my memory serves me well. I remember some weed being very potent (CG was one), I'd just like to see if it was as strong as my memory tells me. I also seem to remember that alot of weed from the day had very long lasting highs, today's herb gets me wasted but an hour later I'm reaching for the bong. I've got a Panama Red ( hopefully, lol) at about week 18 in the closet, I'm hoping it'll give me that old soaring sativa high.

Thank you Desiderata, simply put these are classic old school photos! There should be a thread devoted to photos such as these taken years ago of only classic weed such as SMG,Thai Stick, Panama Red, Vietnamese.....etc. These kinda photos should be preserved for all time.

Great shots of some classic weeds. And unlike indoor sativas , those buds do not look fluffy!

This is the stuff I only heard about... in the Bronx we only got Mexican Brick Weed at that time.
Or the huge sativas kids grew in the woods upstate.
I didn't smoke weed until 1979 though...

Peace...

Thanks guys, you all have tickled me gold, so to speak. Everyone's post means a lot to me. It's so interesting to hear your reactions to old times. I just gazed at the pics last night imagining I was right there again.

That stone pipe was an original Cherokee Indian Peace pipe. I tried it once and it blasted my head off into total blankness, deafness, train ringing........too dangerous, too fuckin dangerous were those days! :D LOL
