Same setup as last run, different outcome

Hi guys,

I have some Stardawg Corey, and Guava cuts about three weeks into veg. I have everything setup the same way as last time using the same nutes, but this time I'm running into some issues. Basically the issue is mid level yellowing of leaves with very tough terminal stems. Like when I go to supercrop I literally can't even crush the stem. Also some of the leaves appear to have a Mag deficiency but I could be wrong. So I'm guessing I have multiple things going on but just don't know why. I've tried flushing once about a week ago, then slowly building back up to about 1.4EC Ive only given them a few feeds at that strength since the flush. Last night runoff was about 0.7ec after a 1.4ec feed. Some plants have started to come around but theres still a bunch that just have an overall sad look to them. I am running my temp and humidity a little higher than last time is really the only thing different.

How often are you giving nutrients? (If using soiless)ONCE PER DAY
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients?

How often are you testing your pH/PPM/EC/TDS? EVERYDAY
Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equipment? YES
When was your last watering? 10/25
What is your water temps? 68-70
When was your last feeding change? (ie. grow-bloom-micro-additional)
How often do you clean your system: example: Flush out water replace with clean water and nutrients? For about the last week Ive been mixing everyday, in earlier weeks I was mixing a batch once every 4-5 days
What size bulb are you using? 315w CMH
How old is the bulbs you are using? AT LEAST TWO GROWS PROBABLY MORE
What is the distance to the canopy? 4 FEET

Is the fan blowing directly at plants? NO
Is your water HARD or SOFT? 140ppm
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water? TAP WATER AERATED
If using tap water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS of the water right out of the tap? 140PPM
If using RO,Distilled, mineral water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS without any additives?
Are you using water from a water softener? NO

How are the roots, any pathogen/pests evidence, would be
my first place to look. If you also have houseplants, they may
incubate pests that could get into your grow. Look them over.

Lamp is well within lifespan, you seem diligent about nutes and such.

The temps/humidity difference seems unlikely a cause.

Tap water variation traits can be a source of problems if unfiltered,
as pH/EC is only a portion of the tap water equation.

To properly trouble shoot you should only adjust one variable
at a time to gain true cause and effect.

Good luck, and keep us updated.

Good thread.

The roots are pretty good. I did notice some of them were a lighter shade of brown or tan color. If I let them go more than a day without water they are very droopy. So that’s why I’m feeding once a day. I feel like I’ve tried everything but obviously I haven’t
Thanks.

First glance - magnesium and potassium.

- What is the size of the containers?

One gallon per expected foot of growth should be the minimum. If the package says 6 feet, you need a 6 gallon container to avoid nutrient deficiencies and having to water too often. Even if you prune the plant so it only grows to 3 or 4 feet, you still need a 6 gallon container.

- Use a high P/K bloomfood and epsom salt

And watch the plants recover. And ditch the rhizotonic and reduce the enzymes. Phosphorous is much more important for root growth than root growth stimulators. 0.4 EC of a high P/K fertilizer and 0.1 EC of epsom salt will clear the plant up.

- Lower your nutrient concentration and do not water every day

Coco still does better when it is only watered every other day or every two days. You get better root development and the medium doesn't stay as compacted so more air can get to the roots.

Containers are 1.5 maybe 2 gallon. I grew the same exact clones in the same pots last veg cycle and it was flawless. I checked the roots in a few pots and they don’t look rootbound. Some of the roots at the bottom were starting to spin around the bottom but nothing drastic.

I checked the height of the Stardawg at Delicious Seeds, and they say it's 70 - 120 cm, which is 2 to 4 feet, you should repot into a 4 gallon pot. Which also leads to higher yields.

So could I use 0.4 ec of pk 13/14 ?

Absolutely, I've used that myself, as well as Atami B'Cuzz (0-20-30), Plagron Green Sensation (0-9-10) and even Ripen, although Ripen is a little heavy on all the other nutrients that are in that as well.

If you repot into 4 gallon pots and give them the above formula, they'll recover. Don't touch the rootball at all (they're autoflowers), just side fill with (soaked) coco coir and water with the above formula.

Once the plants have recovered, you should return to the Canna Coco A+B line starting with a lower ppm.

I do usually pot up to 5 gal fabric pots right before I put them in the flower tent. But I can’t right now until the flower tent is done. I guess they’ll have wait a week or two before bigger pots. I just don’t have the room. And we’re you saying these Stardawg cuts are auto flowers? Because the strain I have isn’t auto.

Typically, autos cannot be cloned. If they are, you generally have poor result from the get-go.

Chemdawg 4 / Tres Dawg is what Stardawg is...could be due to sativa dominant the reason? When we grew bag seed decades ago, it somehow was more difficult to clone sativa than indica or hybrid.

You care correct, it's not an auto.

I think it's the size of container. They don't have to be root bound to show plant is not happy.
