Salt Buildup

Trying to figure out if additives help with salt buildup? Obviously its something we dont want in out plants/pots/reses but i wanna know if i use my additives with no ferts do those still count twards the salt factor or it doesn't matter anything used (ferts/additives) still can cause salt buildup. Reason for asking is cuz i wanna use my additives to get the most out of em while just useing water in terms of a ferts, ferts, water or a ferts, water, ferts feed schedule.

whats ur additives? and whats in them? if they have no npk and no salt compounds, then probly not.

Ahhhh! Yea i never looked i need to pay attention but i use my plants as the tools really cuz they talk to me so much an i have the time to listen. Your right tho Thanks.

Salt build up is 99% of the time user error whether it be over feeding or using a nute line not optimal in the medium of the persons choice feeding habits etc.

You dont need a product to combat salt build up if you learn how to feed at an optimal rate and understand your medium well.

Dropping million dollar info right here for free lol

deuces !

No doubt, ok ima break it down for ya. Right now i use a feed, water, feed method in my plants an it works out fine for me. Now im trying to figure if i use just my additives an water can it still produce a salt build up.

yeah whats your medium like loc dog said?

anyway i dont see how any additive can cause salt build up alone. Unless your additive are shitloads of epsom salt or salt alone lol

your water period is supposed to do the opposite and it sounds like your in soil already with your feed schedule. Soil micro life should be breaking down salts to start with too

I think your overthinking bro !

It really depends on the additive.... Cal/mg, p/k and additives like that are mineral salts, so yes they will add to salt build up in the soil.
Have u checked the ec of the runoff? Or done a slurry test of the soil? These two tests will give you actual numbers from which u can track the salt build up in ur soil... Without guessing or worrying

Something I might try, because my coir runoff drives me crazy, 600 PPM 6 PH in, and up to 1500 PPM and as low as 4.5 PH runoff, is Rhizon Samplers. 10 are around 200 dollars. They are hydrophilic plastic tubes with small pores that are inserted into the root zone when up potting, that stay there, horizontal or vertical. A syringe is attached occasionally to take sample for testing of root zone condition.

I plan on trying them, to see if there is actual difference between root zone and runoff. I have heard a lot of experts say that coir runoff does not matter, but those numbers bother me.

Whats up Loc dog pimp

all i know is coir man its all i been in since i started got thrown into the coco game you could say

I check my run off weekly and the PH sometimes isnt the most accurate that I will agree but my ppms/ec are pretty dam close no more than 100ppm for input.

The most money I spend in this hobby is on quality coir. And it really makes a difference in my opinion.

PS: my homie runs Fox farms. Ocean forrest hot for seedlings mix Light warrior with the Ocean forrest to make it less hot during veg. He feeds weekly with their line up at 3/4 strength of rec. dosage. at there happy. Alot of the time OF will burn his rooted clones.

Happy growing
