Safe Heater for COLD winter temps

P

PonicalChillin

Hey all,

I'm getting ready to kick my 864w T5 show into flower and am pretty sure that I will need some additional heat during the night cycle.

The room is just a poly area in the attic and it will be COLD in there once the lights kick off (they barely keep it warm enough while on).

I was curious was everyone would recommend to heat this small poly space measuring roughly 6'x6'x6'. The room is exhausted using a 172 CFM 4" Vortex fan, but can be put on a timer to turn off right before the lights do to save some heat.

Looking for the most safe and efficient heater to cool my little attic spot during cold nights. Any recommendations.

Thanks,
PC

I use one of those "ceramic" heaters. It doesn't get hot enough to cause combustion but keeps temps plenty warm enough. Very safe.

Just make sure it doesn't have a red light on it because it will cause hermies. It happen to me last winter . I took the light and taped it up works fine now.

^^^ Yea dont get a quartz filament heater; theyre good in terms of efficiency, but they put out a reddish light. imho, its enough light to increase the chances of hermies.

i luckily never have to worry bout it getting to cold but i always thought it be cool to get a heater that runs off propane. so you can have the effects of a c02 generator and heat

I've tried a couple different types of heaters, but so far the one I like best is the oil filled radiant heaters. Looks kinda like an oldschool steam radiator, only smaller...and electric. Nice and safe. You could knock this bad boy over into a pile of oily rags, and still get no flame.
doesn't take up too much room(real slim-takes up maybe 16"x6"), and was cheap. Like 35 bucks at the Mondomart.
Usually, I've got it set up so the oscilating fan is blowing through the ribs of the radiator to circulate the heat around, and hopefully keep it from getting too hot on any plants right next to it.
The only drawback is like most electric heaters, this thing sucks up electricity. mine can use up to 1500 watts :yoinks:
Hmmmm, maybe I should just get another 400HPS to add more heat.
Be safe out there, my friends.
