S&P TD125 fan paired with ProFilter 45 for odor control

i just purchased a S&P TD 125 mix flow fan rated at 197 cfm.

recently, i purchased a vortex and a pre-made carbon scrubber ProFilter 45....but long story short the vortex was way too noisy for my space.

my question now is can i still use the ProFilter 45 with the new fan i purchased?

the filter is made by the same people that makes vortex fans and the ProFilter 45 is made to work with a 4" vortex (which is rated at 172 cfm)

i know that mix flow fans aren't as strong as centrifugal fans so i'm hoping that the extra cfm from the TD125 will kinda balance out.

has anybody used this setup...or have some suggestions?

Looking forward to see wherever this is going.

I wouldn't think that 25 CFM is going to break anything.

The mixvent design fans have less ability than inline centrifugal fans to pull/push under conditions of significant static pressure; my guess is that the fan will have no problem pulling through the filter. I think a couple posters have mentioned having good success using the mixvent fans with carbon filters.

Hook it up and let us know how it goes, go for it! :jump:

so i got the fan in last night.... WOW!

the motor of the fan is basically silent and the fan itself is pretty small. its about 10" long and 5" in diameter. it fits right in the top back corner of my cabinet perfectly.

another thing is this fan does push some air, even with the static pressure that i was worried about...

i hooked up my vortex side by side to this fan...dial the 6" vortex to about 1/2-1/3 power with the speed controller and held my hand next to both fans. (keep in mind that the S&P was already hooked up in the cab with the filter, cooltube, and about 6-8' ducting total)

i held my hand next to both fan exhausts and surprisingly the S&P pushing almost the same amount of air of as the 6" vortex dial down to around 200 cfm.

the best part about the S&P is definitely the noise factor. after hooking it up in my cabinet, the noise is about the same as an air cooled computer. i put a very small hepa filter next to my cab and turned the hepa filter on low and masked the noise coming out of my exhaust.

PERFECT!

and...finally...what about the performance?

my 250watt cooltube is warm to the touch.... temps in cab are 68F (3F higher than ambient)

anybody who has doubts about these fans...let me tell you, this fan is a godsend for anybody growing where stealth is an issue. throw away your insulated centrifugal fans....these fans are the future! :joint:

here are pics of my s&p 8" 470 cfm fan model td200x. When paired with a duct silencer the setup is more quiet than a 4" unsilenced valueline fan. The fan motor makes a small hum but thats about it.
