Rusty Type Marks???

R

REDEYE_420

Hi all i recently had some issues with my four plants. As you can see from the pics in between the veins up some of the leaves i was getting rust coloured markings. Does anybody have any idea of the possible cause please? The plants were two weeks away from the snip. When i first noticed the marks i gave them a good flushing, then the rust continued and the leaves started going really yellow. So with this happening i fed them a more nitrogen orientated feed (3ml vega/1ml bloom). This also didnt help as i soon saw more yellow leaves and more rusty marks-however the rusty marks didnt follow the same pattern as the rust marks in these pics-they were round rusty spots?

OK heres what ive been using:
-Canna Organic Soil
-Canna Organic Vega
-Canna Organic Bloom
-Canna Trichoderma (added to soil at the pot up)
-Bat Guano (powder-again added to soil at pot up)
-Blackstrap Molasses (unsulphured)

Any help would be appreciated as i could do with it not happening again-i hate seeing unhealthy Ladies!!

Peace.

Judging form the fans the soil looks hot.

What's yer runoff pH?

Did you use any lime?

3rd pic bottom center/bottom left looks like a Mag def. Mag locks out in soil below 6.5 pH.

Could just be a guess but it looks like nitrogen has been missing a while... Try feeding that plant looks pretty hungry to me. Just a Guess but Nitrogen is a mobile nute, the plant will take what it needs from the stored nutrients in larger leaves and lower growth... It looks to me as if it is screaming feed me...

EZ DiscoBiscuit cheers for the reply...this was the first indoor grow since i was busted :cuss: so i didnt have any cash to buy a pH & EC pen so i couldnt answer the pH question. I was using a 250w in there so the temps were 29 degrees day/21 degrees night. So temps were pretty cool. When i flushed the plant i noticed the run off smelt pretty bad? Never experienced that before? No i didnt use lime,im still learning with organics at the mo-theres still some facts i need to pick up-whats the lime for?

Safe BURNING SKY cheers for the reply. I was feeding roughly 3ml pr ltr of canna vega for its nitrogen feed,it didnt have any nitrogen probs through the vegging stage. It was week 6 when i took them pics,When i flushed the plant i noticed the run off smelt pretty bad? Never experienced that before? Well after i flushed it i gave them a decent nitrogen feed but they carried on getting yellow with more rust marks?

Smelly runoff could be the bat guano or other ingredients in the organic soil. This is why I use chem ferts lol. Put some of the guano in a dish and wet it. Does it stink? If not, do the same w/ the dirt.

It could also be root rot or something like that. Carefully remove the plant from the pot and look at the roots. Roots are usually white unless colored by ferts. Either way they should be slime free and the root ends should have tiny hairs growing from them. If you see root hairs w/o slime, good chance your plant is healthy. Don't water until the dirt is dry. Roots need oxygen and dry soil is a must. Unlike growing outdoors in the ground, indoor roots don't get oxygen when the pot is wet. Pick up the pot. Do you feel weight from water? If so, wait. The plants will let you know when their thirsty. Judging when to water is a necessary skill. When watering, drench the soil enough to get a little runoff and wait until dry before next water. A cap full of 3% hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water will help w/ slimy roots but won't heal rotten ones.

Dolomite lime is a soil buffer as well as a source for Calcium and Magnesium. Yer plants needs these elements, Mag especially. I'm not an organic farmer but certain soils are too hot for pot and lime sweetens it (raises pH). Typical application (before planting) is 1 tablespoon per gallon of soil, mixed and moistened, allowed to cook a month or so and occasionally turned for consistency. Lime can take longer to fully activate so 3 months for indoor potted plants is optimum but not required IMO.

Very important not to over-lime. Pot doesn't like pH higher than 7 and it's almost impossible to correct. Some soil mixes already have lime added. It's usually not enough for mj as some plants like hot soil. You can test the runoff pH of limed soil to determine if it's in your target range. 6.8 is best IMO.

Thanks a lot for the infomation DiscoBiscuit, ill have to look at gettin me some of that lime. I imagine that if there isnt hardly any cal/mag from the lime in my pots at the mo that could be whats affecting the overall performance of my plant (maybe causing a nutrient lock out too maybe?). Ill have to get me a new pH pen too. Ive used the organics materials listed above before but ive never experianced the smell from the run off-defo not the bat poop smellin. I used molasses for the first time though,i thought that might have been the cause of the whiff?? Thanks again dude, great help!

Peace.

Epsom salt, 1 teaspoon per gallon is a good source of Mag. I read you can also foliar feed but haven't tried it.

Yes i was reading that earlier about foliar spraying-the dude was saying that if you have a defficiency problem and you know which nute is missing then the best & fastest way of fixing the nute defic' is to foliar spray as the plant takes the nutes instantly throuhg the leaves as opposed to roots taking up nutes slower. Ill try this method when im more educated in the topic. Yeah i remember one of my mates mentioning Epsom salts.
*mental note to brain-Epsom Salts,Lime & pH pen lol*

Peace.
