Rust spots only on 1 strain

Odd problem thats been bugging me, not sure if i should post in hydro or coco or here..

This is my 2nd run in this setup, promix hp-cc medium, nice recipe, perfect environment.

All plants were thriving beautifully except the kosher kush were getting rust spots all over last round.. Oddly enough, they hit 1.5 a light still. So didn't really seem to be a HUGE problem.

However, my full run is all kosher this time (not my choice, just how it happened) and I'm getting the rust again..

Im thinking its gotta be my water, I'm on a private well, and theres no filtration other than my hydrologic tallboy (sediment and kdf85 carbon). I do use 200ml of calmag every 55 gal res.

Any suggestions? Go R/O?

Also the new growth is looking really good in veg, its just the bottoms doing it, however in flower they get really crispy and die off all over the canopy.

You have calcium deficiency from nutrient lockout it looks like if you dont have any bugs. I would flush with calmag and keep water temps and ph steady. RO can't hurt.

No bugs.. Wouldn't that show on all strains if that were the case? The other ones are beautifully green.. JUST the koshers are doing this. I do use calmag everytime I water.

No, that strain is being a bitch, it wants change that the others do not. You have to figure out what it is. What ph do you feed them at, what temp, whats your water ppm, etc

The only problem is I mix my res for all the strains lol, 55 gallons at a time.. so its a giant pain in the ass to mix specifically for one strain, however this time almost half of it is kosher. However the koshers hit almost the hardest of all, even with the rusting.

I ph like 5.8-6.4 usually (remember, I'm soilless) water is around 65f (too cold perhaps, but in the summer when it was around 70's i had the same problem) ppms are roughly 1800 when mixed, 330 out of my filter.

I ordered the hydrologic evolution RO, I'm convinced theres something in the water that is throwing stuff off. This area isn't known for the best water from what I hear.

Its possible, do you know your water ppm? I had that issue on mine and I just got an ro and its gone, but I keep my veg ph at a steady at 5.9, 6.2-6.3 for flower. My water was also cold like yours so I heat to 72 now. Probably not a big deal but might exasperate the issue.

Yeah Ive just got so much shit hanging into my res, until it drops under 65 I've been refusing to drop in a heater.

It comes out at like 330ppm or so from my tall boy sediment filter.. when fully mixed, around 1800

So RO got rid of your rust spots eh? What medium you growing in

If that's the "promix" everyone uses then Yeah but I like to add my own mykos and beneficials instead of relying on what's in theirs, #4 is sterile out of the bag but I've seen good results with both. Some add mykos to promix too during transplant.

Yeah I use great white during transplant and in each res

you made my day bro !

I cant wait to hear the nute line now.

YES YOUR SOLUTION IS TO GO RO WATER END OF STORY YOUR ABUNDANCE OF NUTES IS CAUSING YOUR ISSUE.

PS: xmas is right around the corner if you want to buy me a pack of seeds for solving your problem :tiphat:

RO WATER + quality nute line

I also think a water source that has 330PPM of whatever?
And then adding a cal-mag solution is exacerbating your problem.
I also don't think it is a calcium problem.
I think a calcium deficiency shows up on the new growth up top on the plant first.
It is a immobile element.
You need to find out what constitutes that 330 PPM that is in your well water.
Or as DONATHEIIII has said a clean water source could solve your problem.
It is obviously throwing something out of balance.
Wish I could help you more.

Take another look for bugs use a magnifier glass, look on the bottom side of the leaves.

If I am burning my plants so bad how come the other 5 strains I run are perfectly beautiful healthy specimens.. not so much as a single yellowing leaf on any of them? Its just the kosher kush doing this. If the RO doesn't fix it I'm just getting rid of the strain and then the problem child is gone

I run Canna nutrients
