Running AC Compressor/Condenser Indoors

hey everybody. going to be setting up two 6k rooms on a flip flop. these rooms will be inside warehouse space. due to security concerns, the ac unit will need to be placed inside. is this possible? should i just build a room with the unit inside, and exchange the air in there as often as possible?
i want to go sealed room, no hoods just adjust a wings, and burn c02. going to prolly get a 2.5 ton in there with a damper so i can just use one ac unit. let me know if this is feasible. pretty sure it is. have always used ac boxes on window bangers, and it worked fine, so in theory i think this should work. i would just like to get someone who has maybe had experience with this chime in. thanks a lot peeps

Won't work, you'll be discharging the hot air from the condenser into the space you are trying to cool. You'll need to isolate the condenser from the space you are trying to cool.

i actually am going to have the condenser in its own spot, and have that room have a constant exhaust, plus intake.

That would work. It seems like a lot of work though, building a seperate room, having an a/c man come hook it up wondering wtf is going on here.

It might be easier to get a couple of window units and build a manifold around the exterior coils with intake and exhaust ducts. Then you would just have to make 2 8" holes in the wall/ceiling, one for fresh air and one for exhausting the heat.

yea not going to be able to put it on the roof. i was thinking about having multiple window bangers, and building boxes around them. would a 24000 btu ac cool 6k? im wondering if that may just be the better idea. let me know homeys.

24000 btu would cool the 6k with the ballasts out of the room for sure but the CO2 burner will likely cause too much heat. injecting or a water cooled burner would probably be ok

take a look at water cooled AC that may be the answer you are looking for.

in a basement with 9kw, 6kw were air cooled, the other 3 were not. 24k btu had no issues. 2 walls were against earth.

4kw no air cooling, two walls were exterior walls. same ac unit struglled.

both rooms ran the same co2 burner with controller.

With that much ac, I wouldnt use window bangers. You will need to move a shitload of air from that compressor but I think it would be more efficient

Sry didn't read the whole thread.

But yeah, so long as the compressor isn't in the room you're cooling, it will work. You will need to vent the hot air out of the room your compressor is in, but at least you don't have to worry about scrubbing that air for smell. It can just go outside somewhere.

(I might add that I'm a Power Engineer, in case you were wondering what qualified me to answer the question.)

thanks a lot everybody. i was pretty sure it would be able to be done, you guys got me almost positive! kind of still in shock right now that i am actually doing this, and it is actually happening. yea not sure exactly how this is gonna work, but i am looking into ACs that i can put a damper onto the handler so i can use one ac for both rooms.

on a mitsubishi type unit, is it possible to hook up to handlers to one compressor? thanks a lot people.

You could build the rooms inside of a big room (lung room). Put the A/C air handler, dehumidifier, c02 burner, ect in the lung room. Exhaust the rooms into the lung 24/7 to be cooled and c02 enriched before being recirculated through the rooms. Just make sure to dial in the proper lung room (intake air) temp to achieve your desired lights on temp.

For two 6k sealed rooms on a flip flop I would go with a 2 ton mini split for the lung room and 14'' max fan/phresh 14x48'' filter in each 6k room for exhaust

I'm doing the same thing on a smaller scale (2x 2k stadiums flip flop) right now and it's working amazingly well... I could easily cool 2x 4k stadiums flip flop with a 1.5 ton mini split in the lung.

The heat from a compressor room should be exhausted @1000cfm per ton... For a 2 ton compressor room I would use a 16'' max for exhaust and a 10'' max for intake... 1000cfm in, 2400cfm out.

hey 250, thanks for stopping by my friend. i have always taken what you write to heart, as much of what you have said always proves right through my exp., so once again, big kudos on stopping by homey. so let me pick your brain a minute.

so basically i am going to exhaust both rooms into this lung room. from their, the lung room has the air handler in it, so that deals with the heat. then i need to pull the air from the lung room into the flower rooms? so basically the exhaust ports from either room will enter at the top of the lung room, get cooled and enriched with c02, and then sucked back into the room with fans at intake ports at bottom?

but the compressor is gonna have to go in its own room correct? or does that actually going into the lung room also? thanks a lot dude, i will most likely have more ? soon.

yes the compressor must go in its own room.

I've heard good things about the mitsubishi mr slim ductless mini splits

why does it need to be inside? you can mount a minisplit compressor up to 50 feet away from the indoor unit. just need to cut a 3 inch hole for the lines.

heyu phillthy, thanks for stopping by. it is inside a warehouse, and i really just cant have the compressor anywhere outside for security reasons. also, people would prolly wonder why the AC is going to be running in the middle of winter haha. thanks scrogger.

minisplits with heat pumps can reverse refrigerant flow to produce heat indoors in the winter. They have built-in excuses.

Mini- splits are so quiet , who would know ? ALso how would they know you weren't running it in the winter for heating ? I have my unit outside my window , when it's on , I can hear my neighbors central a/c 75 feet away , over my split......
