No power due to sandy, temps in the low 50s inside my house...Im trying to salvage what I can of the grow I had going.

Is there any problem I should be aware of if I use a generator rated at 3500 watts to run my 1000 watt digital ballast set at 50% (i.e. running it at 500 watts).

Thanks....

Nope should be fine. Put it at 100% if u want. Put your grow equipment on a surge protector tho and don't run that gennie in an enclosed space run it outside the fumes could be deadly.

just make sure the generator is in a well ventilated place or else you'll just nice and peacefully go to sleep and that'll be all she wrote...

Please be careful........especially in the aftermath of Sandy.. I worked in S. Florida after Andrew and people got crazy down there.. They were literally killing each other over generators and ice but that was Florida after all..:)

Good Luck

thats what we did last power outage.. dragged the fridge out in the garage. and used the heat from the lamps to heat the house..

make sure u put everything on surge protectors.. and shit because u will blow ur ballasts if the generator decides to fuck up.

that stuff has not started happening here yet, at least not in my area but there is some nasty stuff going on in the more populated areas that do not have power.

Generator is secured pretty well, but when I leave home for any length of time I put it indoors...(not running of course).
