Running a 50hz 220v dehumidifier in california (60hz 240v outlets), possible? safe?

Hey guys,

I'm in need to add a few extra amps to my sub panel, so I was hoping I could replace my 65 pint 120v 6.6 amp dehumidifier, with a 240v dehumidifier that will run half the amps. It would clear up 3.3 amps, that would be just enough for me to add a 1kw MH for veg @ 4.5 amps.

The problem I have ran into, is that almost nobody makes 240v dehumidifiers in the states. Of course, the Drieaz/santa fe's/etc are 240v, but these are much too expensive for my 4kw room at this time.

All the other 220-240v dehumidifiers I have found online are usually smaller units (20-40 pints per day), but there are a few 50 and 60 pint per day units. I would love to purchase one of these (around $400).

The main problem is, most of these are 50 hz, and I believe in the US we use 60hz (may be different for 240v?). Would there be a problem plugging a 50hz 220v european/asian dehumidifier, into a 60hz 240v outlet with its own 10A breaker? Many of these units state that they use European type plugs, and are not for use in the states.

Could I use a 220v 50hz dehu as long as I get the "american" "-.-" 240 plug?

Any ideas/suggestions?

Heres what I'm lookin for, even though this one says its a 50hz 220-240v not meant to work in the states at 110v.
