RQ Power Flower

not too into posting, my garden isn't anything to show off, plants are usually less than a foot tall at harvest. but i don't see a lot on RQ so here we are - i thought this deserved a good word, though this is a shitty review because most of it pertains to its progeny.

RQ power flower (not to be confused with RQ power flower auto) iirc a freebie for the 2012 jubilee. planted ~december 2013 with a slow and sickly veg (not their fault, my garden isn't paradise) resulting in a tiny but sparkly plant with "no detectable odor or flavour".

here she is all chewed up with some white fly.

she was carefully pollenated by a CH9 afghan haze 33 (one freebie, male). i grew those out and got 3 females.. two of them were a *lot* like the PF, one was a *lot* like the AH33...

hybrid progeny aren't the greatest way to review a commercial strain, but you get what you get, and it was like a second chance at both strains. and these plants had a better grow, allowing them to express themselves more.

the AH (both original male and AH leaning hybrid) was somewhat sativa leaning growth.. big calyxes and real "regular" buds, pretty vigorous, average yield. plant material was very thick and burns hot. it has a pleasing, complex, not overly lemony profile. no show pony for high or taste but no disappointment. early buds gave me bad athsma, full term was fine tho.

okay... now the RQPF leaning, ~9 weeks -

here's that cola dried..

not real leafy, but those nuggets are DENSE - the tester buds needed to be cut into small chunks with a knife after drying for a week. it was like working with pine.. the center of the bud was as hard as a dried pea, ~hard to squish with fingers, and went TINK when dropped on a tray..

i'm used to dense buds that can be grated into dust with a knife blade, but i almost carved these into little animals and stuff. unfortunately my macro photography isn't doing well atm (camera settings..)

sliced in half..

the crumbled bud was close to the size of the one on the left..

there's a lot of trichomes in that powder.

neither the original or progeny have much taste or odor to them i've ever noticed.. but the yield is good and the high potent and lasting.. normally one of my tiny plants gets me high for 2 weeks, but i got a month out of it. so the way i see it is i have a good specimen for breeding potency and yield into strains with more flavour or character.

for a small timer, this freebie was a great score.
