Rothbury 2009

A friend of mine went to Rothbury '08 and said it was extremely sick. I'm putting some serious thought into showing up at this year's '09. For those that went to '08, what was the steeze? Good scene? Good headies?

Line-Up Rumors:

Wikipedia said:
Although there has been no official lineup released, there have been rumors of artists such as Phish and Tom Petty performing. However, according to a jam band website, Phish's appearance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival will be their only US festival appearance in 2009.

A local Michigan band, Steppin In It, has announced they will be playing.

However, mlive.com had this to say about the Phish speculation:

mlive.com said:
What does the appearance of Phish, the popular jam act that partially reunited at last year's Rothbury, near the top of the Bonnaroo ticket mean for its chances of visiting West Michigan this summer?

Probably not much.

Only a handful of acts from last year's Bonnaroo also played Rothbury, but they were big ones -- Widespread Panic and Phil Lesh & Friends, for starters.

So it is not inconceivable Phish will take the stage at the Double JJ. The band's Web site lists tour dates through late June, including several performances in the Midwest.

I've heard awesome things from Rothbury 2008. All I heard was good things, lots and lots of headies and all you can imagine is there and at every festival. You just gotta look to find the dank dank. But if you want to go to a awesome and laid back festival...ALL GOOD FESTIVAL on Marvins Mountain Top in WV is the place to be!!!!! Take my word!!!! This festival is not main street at all like Bonnaroo and other festivals. The only cop I saw at All Good Festival was sitting under a tent at the entrance not doing shit. Last year was my first year and I met sooo many nice people! I might try to go to Rothbury this year if i can get a ride or something. But I already got my ticket for All good festival and I got the early bird ticket which means an extra day of camping. If you go to All good deffiently get the early bird ticket...its 100% worth it!!! If you wanna know more just ask man! Peace:abduct:

Hell yeah dude, All Good sounds sick. And moe. is playing, one of my all time favorites. I'm going to have to talk to my buddy, who's driving me out to Rothbury. I very well might be able to convince him to hit up All Good as well.

What a week that would be, huh? July 3-6 Rothbury, July 10-13 All Good.

I don't think they have posted the rothbury date yet. The date you have right now is the one from last year. But defiantly check out All Good Fest. We had a straight ass camp site last year. We were on the edge of the whole place against some gate. It an awesome spot for the view and the privacy, nobody could walk through your campsite which was a + ! Only downside it was kind of far away from the venues, but I didn't care because on the walks you would see, meet and get some crazy ass shit if you wanted to and also for the experience. 1st night last year was like a freak show dude with all the N02....that shit is gay...don't fuck with that shit or X. Whats ever floats your boat...just be careful. Also we hiked down to the river which was a very intense climb down a side of a mountain. Finally emerged from the forest and just see a HUGE river with a bunch of rocks you could chill on and tan and shit. We saw like 4 other All Good people down there. Everything we were doing was not allowed and we were far far far from the boundaries we were supposed to stay in. Some kayakers came down and stopped and were like...uhhhh whatsup? we were like nothing at the all good festival up that mountain. He was like oh sweet...thats the music i was hearing down the river a little bit. HAHA well we stayed at the river for a couple of hours and smoked and smoked and then took the long climb back to our camp site. We we dead after wards...slept for a bit and then hit up the late night shows!!! hahaha that was an interesting night!...ripping bongs with some hippy lady in her stand where she was selling glass. Seeing some guy on the verge of death then one second normal...??? Everything about that festival was awesome and good vibes! Just be careful on the way down because there is a lot of cops doing speed traps and pulling groups of cars over on i think route 70. This year we might take route 50 which is better i suppose but maybe not. Anyone know anything about that?

Yeah, those were the '08 dates I had posted. The '09s just came out.

The second Rothbury (2009) will be held July 2-5, once again placing the festival over the 4th of July holiday weekend.

All Good sounds really sick. I'm gonna have to talk with some buddies of mine to see if I can convince them to hit it up. My Rothbury compatriot can't get off for AG unfortunately, but I know some other heads that might be interested, so there's a still a chance!

If I can't make it to All Good I really hope moe. hits up Rothbury. I don't see why not given how [relatively] close the venues are, but you never know.

Either way, the Rothbury site is saying earlybird tickets go on sale 3/14, with regular up for grabs 3/20. They also said the official lineup will "be released sometime after the early bird, but before general," so I guess during or before the week of March 15th we'll know for sure who's gonna be there.

The ticket prices are killin' me a bit, but realistically ~$250 for a four day show is worth it, especially with the talent I know they'll bring in. But $120 for All Good seems like a straight bargain.

Rothbury was awesome last year but this years line-up is looking pretty sad, especially compared to the Roo.

not too bad i dont think, I had a couple friends go last year and they said it was tihgt...evidently they put a bunch of lights in the woods which makes people trip out haha.

I went to All Good 07, had a great time, but their lineup seems to stay the same every year. Great atmosphere and great people...as one person said above, not a cop for miles around(i hear the roo is a little different.) I remember walking to a show and seeing a security guard run out of a tent yellin "WOO, i bet you've never seen a security guard blow lines"...dude was coked up, rollin balls to the max, kinda freaked me out that he was security!

Bonnarroo has a sick lineup this year but I'm fuckin broke and not about to pay for a $250 ticket .

Langerado 08 was the fuckin shit except for the fire ants (they will eat you alive) and the CRAZY weather(would downpour all nigh 40 degrees and the next day be sunny and 90, wild). So many great shows there....this years was cancelled because they scheduled it in Miami, what were they thinking....

Can't have a bunch of heads trippin balls wasted as shit roaming the streets of miami. The hotels/streets/everything would be trashed!!! A fuckin indian reservation could barely contain us last year.!

Peace y'all.

Are you serious? The Dead, SCI, STS9 (w. two sets), Nas and Marley, Disco Biscuits, Willie Nelson, Yonder mountain, the list goes on and on and on my man.

What made last year's better? John Mayer and Dave Matthews? Granted, having three of the four guys from Phish playing together must have been cool, but in my opinion the lineup is just as good, if not better.

In addition to the official lineup, Umphrey's McGee (??) has been mentioned as a performer at this year's Rothbury.

To be perfectly 100%, there's a good portion of these bands I've never heard of (although I'm sure they're good). I'm getting my iTunes kicked into high gear, figuring out which artists are "must sees" and which ones can be skipped (if need be). The cool thing about this year's lineup (vs. last year's, for example, or this year's 'roo), is that there are no acts I'd go out of my way to avoid, like Matthews or John Fucking Mayer. I will say that from seeing Dylan in the past, I know I can pass on his act if need be, but it's all up from there.

I wouldn't mind seeing Phish this summer, but that'd pretty much necessitate them showing up at Roth, as I'm not hitting any other festies, etc, this season. There's been talk that 'roo paid Phish boo-coo bucks so they'd headline there and only there this year, which may or may not be true. But really, who cares? Phish peaked about ten years ago, if not more; these days, people that plan their shows around Phish are livin' in the past :joint:

I feel for those who haven't seen Phish live before, but take it from someone that knows: Phish will not make or break any show/festival, unless you're on a nostalgia kick.

Ya a couple of my buddies are hitting this up this year. Never rly been to any festivals, many concerts, but no multiple day things. Trying to figure out what am getting myself into. But I am almost deffinatly going to go. Whats the camping like, people partying everywhere or what? Also, what are nugs going for these days over in MI? Will bring my own but if they arent too expensive (more than 2OO an oz) ill buy some there and check out the vireity going around if not ill just bring stricly my own and not buy any there. Just lookin for some info on wat the vibes going to be like basically and what kind of things im looking to bring in terms of equipment. Tent, cloths, chairs, anything else? Are there showers there? Is it on a river or lake? How many people are expected. Sorry if im asking questiongs people cant answer, just figured id get a more straight up answer here than anywhere else... thanks for any info in advance and for the previous posts.
