I can't express how much I love this forum and the people who post here. There is so much knowledge here, it's great.

I'm gonna post some pics here of my Blackberry....
Can anyone tell me if this looks to them like real Blackberry, and if not, what does it look like?

I'm fairly sure that there are two different popular strains known as Blackberry. The one already mentioned, Black Domina X Blueberry, I have heard is from california somewhere, I think either the bay area or the emerald triangle. I don't know much about this version, and I'm not sure if this one is clone-only, or if there are seeds anywhere.

There is also another version of Blackberry that is clone-only, and I believe it's from either Somablaze, or Nebu (I think one found it and the other helped spread it around, or something similar). This one is supposedly a bagseed found in mendo purps or something similar. If I am remembering correctly, the strain Very Berry Surprise is a Blackberry S1 from this version. I think orgnkid also sold some Blackberry S1's at Cali Kush Seeds, from the same cut. Memy Selfandi has worked with the Somablaze/Nebu Blackberry as well, and has several BX versions, as well as a strain called Blackberry Apocalypse.

From what I have seen, the Blackberry cut has almost completely purple buds and a nice fragrance, but it's supposed to be lacking in the potency department a little bit. I have grown Blackberry BX2 from Memy, and it was nice and dark purple, but didn't taste like blackberries, more earthy and peppery. Hopefully I have remembered all this correctly, and hopefully it will be helpful to you. Peace.

If I had to guess, by the way, which version you have, I would guess BD X BB. The other one gets almost completely purple, and though I haven't seen any pics of the BD X BB version, I have grown BD and seen many pics of BB, and yours has some similarities to both.

I find it interesting that memy's bx2 is darker than the original blackberry. So dark in fact that the purple is almost black and looks shiny as if it were spray painted on. I had someone try some of mine and he thought the bb bx2 was quite potent and jaw numbing.

This'll be a quick 'History o' Blackberry'...fer anyone that's interested...and doesn't want ta search their ass off. Here we go!!!


In fall/winter of 2000...SomAblazE (an OG member)...found a 'Bag Seed'...in a sack of "The Best Purple" weed he had ever smoked.

He sprouted 'The Bag Seed' in Dec 2000/Jan 2001...vegged tha seedling for about a month and a half...Triggered tha 'Bag Seed' around Feb. 12th 2001...after takin' some cutz, of course.

Harvested in mid April 2001...blazE snapped tha pics of BlackBerry...trimmed but not dry...next ta tha Crown Royal box...Those Pics made his 'BlackBerry' bag seed FAMOUS!


SomAblazE gave cuttings of his BlackBerry bag seed to Nebu (AKA~ Willy Wap), Memy SelfandI, Joe Dirt, and a couple/few others.

Joe Dirt (newbie, at the time) lost/killed his cut.

Memy crossed tha Blackberry cut to White Label BubbleGum (DoubleGum)...creating 'Black Gum'...he then backcrossed his BlackGum to tha BlackBerry mother cut Twice...BlackBerry x White Label BubbleGum x BlackBerry x BlackBerry...he labeled these 'BlackBerry BX2' (these seeds were 75% BlackBerry)...

...these 'BlackBerry BX2' seeds he sold to Jojorizo, Weedzilla, OrgnKid, and a few others. Memy has since lost his BlackBerry Cut.

Nebu crossed tha BlackBerry cut to his AK47 (Cherry pheno)...creating 'Black Russian'...he made F1 and F2's of the Black Russian...which he sold on Cbay...

SomAblaze is 'rumored' to have lost tha 'Original Mother' cut...which leaves Nebu as tha 'Only' keeper of tha 'original' bag seed mother cut.

the blackberry I smoked was very tasty like the mendo purps but lacked potency. Its confusing when theres two diffrent strains with the same name. Im sure the black domina X blueberry is much more potent but Ive never tried it.

Nice medikush, tell us how you liked it. I grew it once outdoors, it was aight but don't think I will grow it again. nice bag appeal, and anti-anxiety quality effect... but there's better strains out there.
