Fill a 5 gal bucket with 5.5 phd water. Throw em in there and soak for about 30 min. I use two trays. One is called a skeleton tray which holds the RW and that tray goes into the standard black clone tray.

To shake out excess water so the cubes arent too waterlogged i shake/wave the skeleton tray up and down and the water will pour out of the bottom. Don't squeeze the cubes it will mess up it's water holding capacity/ structure of the cube. I put my cuts into the cube but not in the hole they provide. I like doing this because I feel like the base of the cutting makes better contact on all sides. That's about it if you got any other questions just ask.

It is best to use regular tap water instead of RO water when it comes to cuttings. For one, many say the chlorine will help keep fungal/bacterial issues at by such as damping off. Also, areas of higher concentration migrate to areas of lower concentrations. Apply this to your situation and the RO water (low concentration) will draw trace elements out of the cutting (higher concentration). Other then that, it is a pretty fail safe method. I have a buddy doing all of his cutting in RW with a nearly 100% success rate.

I finally got my first cutting to take after killing the equivalent of the population of a small desert island. I FINALLY go it to work using rock wool cubes soaked in water taken from one gallon of fresh tap water with 1 lemon added to drop the PH of the gallon. One big drop of Super thrive also in the gallon, but not necessary for competent cloners, of which I am not. The lemon is per the directions on the Grodan package and I also soak them for about 10 seconds as suggested in the instructions. If you fail at first, it will most likely be due to not watching the cubes closely enough and having them dry out. At least, that seems to be the problem for me, but this is really my first go around w/ the rock wool, so I don't feel completely retarded. So I used a yogurt lid as a water tray for the cubes that took and made sure there was a little in there at least a couple times a day. FWIW, just the little bit I have learned in the past month or so. Last thing, my cuttings are from flowering plants like 4 or 5 weeks deep, so you're probably going to have a little easier time.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I read somewhere you should water the mother real good just before you take the cuttings.
