i own the schultz powder and find myself using it for roses,
but not so much for cannabis..

also,

i use it when in a medium like soil where the clone will benefit from the artificial root system.

i also own olivas solution, which i find to be useless.. maybe i need an aerocloner huh

looking to buy a gel on monday.

any recommendations or are they all the same? dyna gro gel looks good to me :) 9 bucks.. any1 know how far 4oz of gel goes in Cannabis cuttings? maybe 200 cuttings? 2000? im clueless :)

Products containing naphthalene acetic acid seem to work much better than products containing Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), in my experience...

That's interesting stuff Indigo. With all the "I put apple juice in my res to flavor my pot" threads I've read, I was skepitcal at first of the idea of using honey, but after reading your post there it makes good sense... I'm going to give it a shot myself.

Hehe and to answer the poll question...

Nothing new here: I use the schultz powder and own the Olivias Cloning Gel, but it's useless......is there an echo in here?

I have near 100% success with the schultz and no success with Olivias.

I use Root Juice by ESU Greenleaves. Its ingrediants are all derived from natural sources.
I have put it head-to-head with clonex and it jumps all over the clonex. I get roots usually in well under 2 weeks.

Clones don't wilt or yellow with this stuff either, where as they do BIG time with Clonex.

No hormones. I used to use Olivia's with great success in perlite, rockwool, etc., but since switching to bubbler cloners, I don't use anything.

no rooting agents at all, used to use roottech when i cloned in soil and had ok results .
nowadays i use a bubbler cloner with straight tap water and i have at least 95% success every time

i'll never go back to cloning in soil......waste of time if you ask me

There are a million ways to skin a cat...just like there are a million successful ways to root cuttings. And if one cliche was not enough, practice makes perfect!! Find a technique that works for you, and stick to it. Saying that, I love rootech!! It works great.

hey Grat3fulH3ad...what are some products that have naphthalene acetic acid?

Great observation! Those compounds are derivatives of indole-acetic acid. They replace the acetic acid molecule with a bulkier one to slow breakdown. The naphthyl acetic acid is very bulky and supposedly will still have some affect for up to 4 weeks in soil. Indole-butyric acid will at most go 2 weeks.

Olivias Cloning gel has always worked for me.I really don't like cloning like this,it really takes to much TLC for me.I always seem to do 2 things when using RW or Soil, keep things to moist or not moist enough.I guess I'm lazy and don't feel like messin with them.

i should have been more clear in my earlier post about the results of my cloning in soil with rootech...........i did have almost 100% success, which was much better than when i didnt use it.
for me however the overall time of cloning has been at the very least cut in half by the use of an areo/bubbler cloner, that is what i meant by "waste of time"

Roots growng through gel:

"DIEHARD™ Root Dip is formulated as a bare root mycorrhizal inoculant treatment with live beneficial mycorrhizal fungi to inoculate the roots of bare root plants before planting. It contains highly selected species of low host specificity endo- and ectomycorrhizal fungi that will quickly colonize the roots of bare root plants to provide the best possible conditions for the roots to become as effective during and after planting. The mycorrhizal inoculants are combined with humic acids, biostimulants, beneficial bacteria, soluble sea kelp, and yucca plant extracts, to promote rapid root development. The mycorrhizal inoculant is managed with Horta-Sorb® SM which also protects the roots from drying out. The results are better survival and growth rates and less watering for all transplants."

I suppose this would be like the Cadillac of root dips....the thing is i think it is completely "organic" unless you count the incredibly synthetic water absorbing polymer which is composed of cross-linked acrylamide.....but that is a bit :off2:...

Well since it doesn't mention the addition of a synthetic rooting hormone we will trust that they haven't added one. But that doesn't mean you couldn't combine this with your favorite rooting powder or gel to create a super rooting goo which would root clones in under 30 seconds.....beep!!....roots!!

I guess the clone war rages on :)dueling:)
