Rooting Hormone and Propagation

Currently i finished my white rhino grow and am moving on to another project....Project sour Diesel, i popped two seeds yesterday with the help of rooting hormone and today 2/4 had 1/4" taproot...

Yet i have a question and decided to try something and want to know if anyone else does it... When i was planting the seed and taproot into Jiffy 7 pellets i put a little amount of rooting powder hopefully to get the plant off to a right start....

Also any tips on Sour D since i already opened the thread?

I think it would hinder the process if any root hormone got onto the part of the plant that isnt root.

Rooting hormone's like Olivias's Cloning gel or clonex are made for propagating cuts, not for seedplants.Jiffy pellets and rockwool cubes are also intended for cloning, not seed propagation. It will work, the cubes that is.Its much better to start a seedplant in a 4 inch nursery container with preferred media though, germinating seeds beforehand always works for me.Some like to germinate into the media itself, either way you are utilizing cloning techniques for seedplants in that you are using a pellet or cube and rooting hormone. Some folks do it that way with great success, you have to distinguish between clones and seedplants and the way that works best for you in each case I reckon.

The way i thought of it was when plants are first sprouting their main purpose is to a) first set up a single root than b) form cotyledons(sp?) and then from there on expand the root system before expanding vegetation.... i wanted to start making a plant with a strong root system than from there on it can build on with an already established strong root system as it will go outdoors later on...

Whether it ends up outdoors or not matters not,you have to play the indoor game for now. That game is germinating seed in preferred media however suits you best and sticking them under floro tubes from infancy through adolescents.I thought you couldnt beat a basic 4 ft 2 lamp strip for staring clones/seedplants until I started using a 4 ft 4 lamp T-8 "wrap"from home depot or lowes. When they sprout keep the lamps close to reduce initial seedling stretch, maybe an inch above the green spot lol. After it gets a couple nodes move those flo tubes to within 1/4 inch, bend any fans that want to grow into the lamps downward.Keep that growtip 1/4 inch away at all times, you'll have to raise the fixtuire every day after dark hours. You'll see,its the best.

Thank you for your advice, the reason i started this way was i didnt have any rockwool starter plugs and after the plant roots were placing it into a rockwool 4" block... I have two flo as of now a 12 inch desklight 20w in Cool and a 65w grow light in warm with mylar in a 1'x2 1/2' cab... do you think this would be sufficient in growing 4 to maybe 6 vegging plants??

Peat pellets are good but I wouldn't use the hormone personally cus I get awesome results without it and I would think that it would hinder.
It'll work but id get CFLs with a bit more wattage, if you can.

You should be aiming for about 50 watts of light per square foot of floor space also good ventilation is paramount :sasmokin:

so i decided to have an experiment and go a little bit further with the rooting hormone...Upon placing the seeds in their new home two of them i had laced the peat pellets with a little bit of that white stuff. The other two i left without...Ratio's as of 2 day's after intial start 2/4 with the rooting hormone planted ones in the lead...
