those are my plants they are rootbound, what size pots should i get? (i was thinking 5gal)

i remember something from OG saying you should slightly disturb your roots to let them know they have more room to grow in how do i go about doing that?

whats the best way to transplant?

Unless you have more light than what I see there, I'd leave them in those what look like 10" Walmart 2 gallon pots?

You don't have enuf light for the plants to grow correctly in 5 gallon pots IMO. They would stay waterlogged too long in 5 gallon pots.

As for how to transplant, you might want to check out the link in my signature (SSHxSSH). Same principles apply for larger pots.

are you saying THESE plants pictured here are root bound?

quite the opposite. the plants in the picture are a long way from being root bound. Add light and wait for these plants to mature before re potting!

I'd go up just one size, to about a 2 gallon pot- the cheap, black poly, nursery ones like potted roses come in are actually much better than those ones with the built in trays, because they train better.
Yup, 5 gallons is too large a jump from 1 gallon and you would end up with sodden soil in the bottom like JJ48 said.
But you do need to pot-up. If that's all the space you have, go up to 2 or 3 gallon pots and initiate flower ASAP. They look from here to be alternating and sexually mature.

Whatever

If you plan on finishing those plants with that light you're in for a big surprise. A good step up would be getting 2 fluoro fixtures with 2 48" fluoro tubes per. The fixtures are like $10 at just about any decent hardware store and the tubes are $10 a piece. I'd recommend Ecolux Daylight bulbs for veg. A good thing about the Ecolux is they are very lox in mercury and we need to take care of the planet. I used a similar setup, actually 3 fixtures, for 3 moms and after about 10 weeks I put them under a 1000 for cloning and trained the branches a bit and the canopy measured 6' x 6'. You gotta keep the plants close to the tubes though...I had mine almost touching.

why do you think they are rootbound ? i have plants twice that size in pots half that size.
Leaf shape, especially on bottom RH corner plant.
Those pots with the catch trays don't drain worth shit and you'll often see rootbound symptoms with them on a smaller plant than normal because of the non-useable zone down in the soggy bottom, if the drain holes get clogged with debris. To avoid that, or at least give yourself more time, I'd recommend removing the trays and adding holes in the sides of the pots. But re-potting on a strict schedule is IMHO very important.

I got them same pots! I ussually transplant into the three gallon black/nursury style pots. Your babys also look overwatterred. When you transplant put dirt in the other pot, water real good so its soaked, when you pull out the root ball maybe break up a little with your hands, just try to loosen it a little so you dont rip too much, then put it in the pot and water. after this you should water with some rhizo tonic or root stimulator. peace-
