Transplant them back to 6" pots and when you transplant them put them deep in to the soil and bury the stems right up to the first set of leaves then wait until you see roots through the bottom of the pot drain holes before transplanting into your final pots.

Motta... the SM-90 will actually want to kill off the bacteria... good & bad. Thought it had a chem in it just for this purpose...?

NSS... Roots Excelurator by H&G is a bene that will keep them pretty darn healthy. But time will always fill up a root ball! ;-)

good drainage, good soil and good kelp (root excelerator is good but way too expensive). I don't use it anymore. don't overwater and let them dry out a bit so the roots need to search for water. And don't over pot (pottin in a pot too big). And did I mention kelp? Maxicrop dry seaweed is like $14 and it makes like 50 gals. Or even better, order some seaweed from KIS

get some humics while you're there.

Nope...not that I know of.

But some males turn into females. If all you have is one plant and it turns out male...give it a few weeks...it COULD surprise you! Better than nothing if you've already invested a lot of time into it. You'll get seeded bud...but it's still bud.

I don't know your situation, it's just a thought...

ibjamming, do you have any links to info about this? I've heard this before but always dismissed it as grower's urban legend.

I also don't understand the distinction between a hermaphrodite and a plant that supposedly changes genders entirely - because even if that can happen, it would still be a plant that can and has displayed both sex's characteristics.

I've only seen one female plant hermie, and all it did was have one bud that shot out a branch with a lot of bananas. Most people here say they find plants that just pop a few bananas, not turn entirely male.

You didn't say if you were in hydro or soil, but if you are doing soil you can do a few things to increase your root mass:

1) Use smart pots and or air pots to air prune the roots, creating a more thorough root mass.

2) Keep your soil light and airy by using perlite. If it cakes together or you have too dense of a soil mixture your roots will have a harder time developing.

3) Water using kelp, earth worm castings, and mushroom compost teas. These will introduce more beneficial bacteria and fungus into the soil. The bacteria and fungus will form a symbiotic relationship with the plants, digesting raw nutrients and excreting them in a form the plants can uptake a lot easier. This allows the plant to devote more energy to growth in all forms. Some of the beneficial fungus won't even spawn until it comes into contact with roots.

4) Let the soil dry out between watering, if you want to increase root mass let the plants dry to the point where you have a little leaf droop but not full on wilting. The plant will respond by producing more roots and the dryness will prevent some soil problems from developing.

But some males turn into females.

That would be a hermie. It would also be extremely rare. While females go male with some regularity, it's much rarer for males to go female. FWIW, I've never seen a male turn but, have seem many females do so. Never once did they go all the way. They always displayed signs of both.

I've had it happen...this last grow as a matter of fact. An Apollo11 "male" I was saving to pollinate my girls turned bitch on me. It had VERY positive male preflowers...threw all male flowers for about two weeks...and then started putting out nothing but pistils.

I almost used it for pollen (supposedly it will make all female/hermi seeds, that part may be an urban legend) but I decided against it. It also had an autoflower tendency...it went from preflowers to flowers...no light change. I didn't want an "autoflowerer" like that. I may be an idiot but I culled..."it".

It seems that cannabis has genes that enable the growing of fertile sex organs that are not linked to the sex genes. You can make either sex flowers with either xx or xy. Weed wants to live!

I've had a banana here and there...but this was a full switch from male to female. It didn't stay around long enough to see if it would start throwing male sacs again.

It was talked about before...someone had a picture that was just like mine...balls below and pistils coming out the apex of the bud.

I'll look for it and add it if I find it...
