Root binding in small grow (soil, 250w cfl, novice)

Hey all, was thinking about growing out multiple seeds to get the bushy, brachiest pheno but due to the small size of my grow box i would have to use small pots to start them in. Would this severly stunt the growth as most of the root growth is done in veg time and... well, thats when they'll be in small pots, no more than 1l. Anyone got any views on this? Worth me doing it?

Thanks,

ltlr

Too small a pot will stunt them, especially if it's not very deep. Autos have a tap root and like a deep pot. I start my seeds in Rapid Rooters, then after about a week or so, plant the Rooters into 5" square by 5.5" deep pots. These are big enough for the first 3 weeks or so, until I can sex them. Then the females go into their final pots. Generally I use 2 gallon for dwarfs and 3 gallon for mid sized.

If you want to find bush/branchy pheno's it will be harder using 1 litre pots.. as they might not put any branches out if they are rootbound like that..

Try 2 litre pop bottles.. they don't take up much space, but are deep enough that you can grow some decent plants in.
