the top of my pots is vulcanic rock, the bottom is perlite, i only found these guys on the bottom of the pots in the plate where i water, i dont see them in the top of the pot or in the plants themselves besides the fly that looks a lot like the aphid in the flying stage..
a bunch of dead ones and a bunch of live ones, and i see one here and there walking around the bottom of the tent..
they are root aphids and im doomed right?

peace :tiphat:

not necessarily....i was able to eliminate RA using neem oil drenches growing in soil...

i watered the pots till the trays they sit in were full and then allowed the pots to dry out before repeating....3 times from memory...

i also used stick traps for flyers

good luck

The 2 top pics are a different color than the root aphids I had to deal with.

The lighter, off-white, appearing translucent bugs in the later pics are closer to the ones I had.

My younger son's grapefruit tree in our living room a couple years ago had a hellacious infestation, but they were down in the roots, and to a lesser degree, up near where the roots meet the top of the soilless mix.

I tried Azamax, Capt. Jack's Dead Bug Brew, other 'organic efforts,' and eventually bombarded them with chemical stuff that I would never use on anything I was smoking or eating.

Ended up putting the plant outside on the front porch at serious sub-zero temps, and forfeited my son's grapefruit tree. I was glad they didn't make their way into my shop and my cannabis.

Good luck.

Looks like Aphids to me and I compared them to what comes up on google images and got a confirmation more or less. Unfortunately I've never had them at least not to my knowledge so I'll defer to moose eater's advice on how to deal with them.
