room humidity 20%

Newer member here been growing for years love the site.i just moved from another site with a magazine in the title to find somewhere better i bet i found it.

my humidity in the flower room is 20%at times..it is a rather cheap model but its the best i have.Im unsure if this is too low im not experiencing any issues but would like some feedback.

Very Very low............keep it around 50 and all will be well.......try a few buckets of water around your grow area......see what that does.....what i use in the hot dry Western Australian summer in my room is an Evaprotive Cooler.....does the trick.....

Sand ive seen so much conflicting info This is my flowering area with 3x600 hps.They say that in lower humidity it helps flowering. it causes the plant to build more resin?Any thoughts that could swing me your way and a target number for my flower room.Any one else have anything to add!

I've had experience growing in the cold, high, and dry areas of Colorado too. Most of the time, especially in winter, my RH is so low that my humidity gauges can't even measure. It quits reading at 16% I think. I've never seen issues with low RH, just my plants getting way too cold. I wouldn't worry about it unless you really want to but at least you won't have to worry about bud rot or many other fungi for that matter.

thanks for the responses i put a humidifier in the room.Im gonna watch the plants to see how they respond.I can almost tell if they are happy!

The higher the temp & the lower the humidity the more the plants need to transpire water out their pores. It's pretty dry here in Denver, and the plants seem to do fine at whatever the usual low humidity, so long as they get enough water. If you put more water in the air, then the plants need less frequent watering. I personally won't bother about the humidity.

In flower, somewhat dryer is generally better to avoid mold.

The best thing to do is ultimately what you feel like doing and observing your results. It's a bit of a loaded question based on where you live, elevation, time of year, ambient humidity, etc. that will affect different strains in different ways. Just observe your results and if something is working then keep doing it. It helps to keep a detailed grow journal to help you remember things and dates too.

You'll eventually get to the point where your plants are speaking to you and you know how to listen.

Me too when I was growing indoors. I came to learn to love it. A few times the reading would be off the scale...meaning below 10%. Worked out great

I wonder if 76* temp with 30% RH, which makes the buds sweat, will ^up^ the chances of Powdery Mildew on certain strains suceptible to PM, because of the sweating buds?

I always have found it safe to keep the temps between:
Day Temps 72* -78* / Night Temps 68* - 73*
Veg:
Day RH 50% - 60% / Night (if off for 6hrs or less) RH 50 -60%
Flowering:
Day RH 40% - 45% / Night RH 40% - 45%

Keep things in this range and there should be minimul problems.
Outside this range and there could be issues from certain strains.

I had really cold temps at night for about 9 days, and my heater couldnt keep up with it. Temps dipped down to 60* at night and I just started flushing my crop a few days prior, so humidity was up to 60%.
PM hit one strain really good. This is just one of the problems that can rear their ugly head with Temp and RH swings.

Yep. Mold, mildew & bud rot aren't much of a concern at low RH. Just one less worry.

The girls just need to be kept hydrated to stay happy.

Thats the funny thing, I got tons of budrot with sub 20% humidity...

It has to do with the amount that you water towards the end. Less water = less budrot, at least in my experience...
