WASHINGTON (CNN) – He's locked in low single digits in most polls, but Texas Rep. Ron Paul raised more than $5 million for his presidential bid in the third quarter, roughly equal to or just short of several of his higher -profile rivals.

"Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace and prosperity," Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder said in a statement announcing the total. "As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul's message."

Paul's fundraising total is a 114-percent increase over what he raised last quarter and is also only $2 million shy of what Democratic White House hopeful John Edwards raised during the same period. It is also roughly equal to the fundraising totals of Arizona Sen. John McCain and former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.

haha yea I saw the top four fundraisers on FOX NEWS when I was eating food last sunday at a restaraunt, and somehow paul was left out.

The usual suspects were there, in addition to tommy thompson, who has a prayers chance in hell of getting more than 12 votes that don't come from wisconsin.

They really had to pull at it to come up with that one, I'm sure.

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA -- The Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign raised $5,080,000 during the third quarter of 2007. That is an impressive 114 percent increase from the second quarter.

Cash on hand for the Paul campaign is $5,300,000.

"Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace and prosperity," said Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul's message."

Ron Paul's 114 percent increase is in stark contrast to the decrease suffered by Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. Romney's fundraising was down 29 percent. Giuliani was down 40 percent. McCain was down 55 percent.

This post on RonPaul2008.com said how much Ron Paul's fundraising increased, but look at it compared to the others. They're all down, from 29% to 55%. Ron Paul is UP 114%

(I looked around a little and couldn't find 2nd quarter numbers, so I can't compare with other candidates.)

That's crazy.

McCain barely has any viability left . . .

and comparing oneself to Bill Richardson might be considered damning oneself with faint praise . . .

and didn't Mit freaking Romney - the storming Mormon . . . raise more than Ron Paul . . .

jeesh . . . lets hope that doesn't means we should all be converting to the church of jesus christ of later day saints . . .

Nah... It just means those who've already converted to Mormonism have sent Mit some fundage... can't blame them rooting for the home team, but there aren't enough mormons to put him in office, no matter how wealthy they are...

Go Paul!

we are old enough to have learned to never say never . . . :bashhead: learned it the hard way too!

Mormonism is the fastest growing religion in the world (if ya believe the mormons) . . .

btw - we're pulling for Ron Paul ourselves . . . we just hope the fact that our fellow Canadian Marc Emery has endorsed Ron Paul . . . won't hurt him . . .

people just need to learn to think for themselves and stop watching t.v. It really makes me sick the number of voters who will vote rep. or dem. regardless of who's running and what they stand for. Its up to the people to bring change. It sounds like more and more people are waking up, i know I have helped a few.

Well when you flip a coin to determine your king you can't be too surprised at the methodology of voting the party line.

Also I noted on the ronpaul2008.com site that merchandise from the site is provided at cost, so be sure to make a contribution as well.

While I agree with some of his views, I don't think that he has a chance of winning. For those who believe that he will win, then I suggest that you put your money where your mouths are and place a wager on him, because you will certainly get a very nice return on your investment.
