Unfortunately, we HAVE been legislating morality.....

Unfortunately, we HAVE been legislating morality.....

That is one of the biggest problems in this country is the attempts being made to either regulate or legislate morality. Morality is uniquely individual. In a country that purports itself to be free we are limiting the rights of the many by the few and vise-versa, but mostly the many by the few. Money in politics is what makes this possible. The founding fathers created the Bill of Rights to prevent the many imposing their morals on the few but through legislation and regulation, the few have found a way to impose their will and morals on the many.

Forget religions and all that.... the development of the family unit was a natural development implemented over as far as history or science can go back. It is based on the young's need for guidance and knowledge and the olds need to survive. A sense of belonging and tradition of passing social knowledge or morality from originators of the family unit to their replacement was greatly impaired when we dismantled that in this country. During the WWll, the opportunity to dismantle this natural unit was seized and made necessary. Many social institutions were put in place to meet the needs the family units had originally met, but lacked key ingredients. This doubled the slave labor force in less than a couple of decades and drastically increase output. Two people or more people living together can live much cheaper than separately. DON'T get me wrong... I don't care what the make-up of the family unit or the particular set of morals they adopt are but the continuation of those functions are the important part.

This is how we had social security before Social Security was mailed out in a check by the government.

Now it is acceptable and expected that the government will take care of everything, medical care, food, shelter, morals like regulation of corporations and minimum wage, Terrorist both foreign and domestic, what we put in our bodies... everything. We have forgotten the responsibility part of being free and self sufficient, and only want the pleasant parts of it.

Now, we have traded that freedom for safety to a government or pseudo-government and corporate structure that says, "trust us" we know what is best for you. Then we wonder why it is so fucked up. What is it like 20% of people voted when all this shit was happening, so in essence we did trust them....... now we are here!

Ron Paul is not saying he will fix everything for us; he is saying he will try to do what is necessary for US to have a fighting chance at fixing it and being free again. Freedom is not without work and responsibility that much of America has abdicated.

Peace

i would agree with this if every single company had to employee people that belong to unions..., but in reality across the south this is just not the case...

I know I lived there for 26 years. It is called a right to work state. That is a perfect example of broken capitalism and democracy. I am not exactly sure why there are no unions in them but I am going to go read and find out the exact process or lack of process.

he opened a poll asking how dumb you were, then when the mods binned it he made a poll on how dumb the mods are. Crazy mofo, made for 5 minutes of pure excitement though.

a flash in the frying pan....
a fart in the wind....
a loan to the government....

i think what he is talking about is the fact that RP policies would allow a business owner (let's say a restaurant) to refuse service to minorities if they so desire...

some of RP's policies go just a tad bit far for most. he is for personal liberty even to the degree of discrimination...

Could I have a link or quote on that subject matter that KMK was referring too. I am pretty sure nothing like that exists but not saying that is a fact.

Now if both you and Conjito are referring to the lack of State law making that legal because we have allowed the Federal Government to have authority of that particular issue then that is an extreme extrapolation. Ron Paul never said he would attempt to get rid of the Supreme Court and all their rulings. States would still be bound by those and future rulings is my understanding. I would not accept that extrapolation or his acceptance of it unless given decisive proof that is what he would intend. Sounds like nothing I have ever heard, read, or seen before.

It seems this thread has gone off into the wind with peoples usual political comments that are meant for nothing other than rudeness. What does 3/4 of this thread have to do with "our cause", which is cannabis? And people wonder why we don't allow political threads......

c'mon man its not like anyone went bat shit and started polls regarding other members intelligence

seriously tho, judging by the threads popularity i think its a good thing, it has people talking and frequenting the site more often. i personally just dont see the harm in it, judging by the response i think people enjoy discussing the matter at hand. Mods are alot like the police, trying to protect ic mag from itself. IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE HEAT GTFO

hehe damn dude I must hang out in the gutter (I do hehe)...because I found this to be, generally, a very mature and thoughtful thread.

I'd never vote for Ron Paul but I found the arguments here to be very considered and adult.

I have been explaining Ron Paul's Libertarian view point in a nice manner, to help people understand how he could help advance the re legalization of cannabis. JJ, please dont bin the thread. some of us here are civil and educated.

Ron Paul clearly is the only candidate for our cause. I know a lot of people here feel like he doesn't have a chance because these damn globalist control Americas perception of reality with their corporate whore media propaganda. We know who these scum bags are that seek to control. We know they will do what ever they can to prevent Ron Paul from becoming the GOP candidate. We know they will never allow him to become president and they are going to use their shock and awe campaign on America to keep us under their control. I feel by supporting Ron Paul it's resistance against the inevitable end game they have planned. We have to resist even if we think there isn't a chance! Ron Paul is the result of the mass awakening happening in America right now. Even people that disagree with our views are learning about the private federal reserve, the military industrial complex and Austrian economics. 5% of American gun owners= Largest standing army on planet earth. I want liberty and the right to be left alone!

WTF are you talking about??

sorry, i'll try to be more clear. i think it was itisme who wrote: Ron Paul was going to "reset America to its core values" ... so i said cool, i've already got my slaves picked out. i could've just as easily said great, i'm so sick of women voters, or good, no more Hillary Clinton's running for office ...

perhaps you see where i'm going with this now. i just wanted to point out that our "core values" have evolved as we moved from agrarian to post industrial society, and since the church has been weakened. for the better i think. slavery, Jim Crow are considered kinda naughty now. and i'd like to keep it that way.

but then old Ron argues that southern property owners had every right to be racist because states and property rights are more important than human rights. he even came out against the historic civil rights act. so while i've never accused him of racism over his opposition to the civil rights act, or because he sent out racist newsletters back in the day (who hasn't?), i am concerned that his ideas could allow for an erosion of civil rights.
