It took me 30+ years to figure out that Rocky is retarded. I just never thought of Rocky as a retarded boxer before.

Yes, I remember when the original came out it was made clear in the write ups that Rocky was a punch drunk coulda-been. Stallone said in interviews that his character was an up and coming wash out.
Retarded would explain alot but not the case.
Adrian is shy but not overly timid since she stands up to Paulie.
She however is also NOT retarded.
