Hey boys and girls,

I hope everyone is well I have a quick question as I’m struggling to find info.

my question is what is the man difference between a 3 and 4 inch Rockwool Cube m, I mean like what size plant could they grow to in there veg state?

Planning on using Rockwool for veg only then transplant into coco pots for flower, just have no idea which one would be best.

I know already that a 3inch is a transplant Cube, but wouldn’t a 4” be the same apart from bigger. I also know a 6” can get up to 4-5ft tall.

I just getting confused so I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

thanks in advance

Rockwool grows small roots because the nutrients are so available. As long as the nutrient is available your plant will grow well, with small roots. However, you will need a trellis to grow taller plants using small rock wool cubes. Rockwool is kick-ass grow media and grows some badass weed when you get dialed in correctly. 😎

Blocks (4″, wrapped w/40 mm hole) can support small to medium plants from start to finish. They are often used with cubes or slabs.
Hugo (6″, wrapped w/40 mm hole) provides enough growing volume to support a larger plant, so it does not need to be placed on top of a slab.
Slabs (6″ W x 36″ L x 3″ T, wrapped) are recommended for larger crops with extensive roots like peppers and tomatoes. Typically, seedlings in blocks are placed onto slabs

I grew in rockwool for about 15 years and never used cubes smaller than 4 inches.

Quickly gravitated to torn up clean rockwool in 8 gallon square pots, actually plastic recycling containers.

Pot Plants like Root Mass. Grew my first plants around 1974, and some of my best plants EVER were the ones that got the Big Rockwool approach.

I suggest cloning directly into the rockwool slab, or planting your seeds there. Then you don't have to worry about transplanting.

You could start in a 6 inch slab, then lay that on top of a 12 inch slab.

Then save all the clean pieces of rockwool for the next crop.

The 3" blocks can grow a well formed 10-12" start.

The 4" cubes can grow a well formed 18-24" start.

Good Luck and Happy Growing!!

thanks for everyone reply, as only thinking for veg, I don’t think a slab be suitable as I’ll be transplanting into a coco pot for flower

FletchF.Fletch thank man for making it simple to understand:)
