Hey i found these coco coir and peat plugs for raising seedlings / clones. im wondering if these can be used as a alternative for rockwool in hydro for the full grow/ veg/flower.

Also how do i exactly use them, i read that they expand in water. so what soak then seed? wait for roots then put in chosen medium

Jiffy7 plugs / peat and coco pellets are ok... although they are often too acidic for canabis.

Some people use them for germination before dropping the plants into clay pebbles and other non-organic mediums... usually hand watering. However remember that the peat may wash out of the netting in time and work its way into irrigation lines, drip feed pipes, nozzles, and clog -up the system.

To use coco/peat pellets place them into pH neutral water for 10mins until fully expanded. Shake them downwards to remove any excess water. Poke a small hole in the open top, and sow a seed in the hole. Then place in a warm humid place, airing cupboard, or propagator with lid for a few days until the seeds hatch. Alternatively some growers germinate on wet tissue paper,, then transplant the tender seedlings into the pre-soaked peat-pellets afterwards.

Note: NEVER touch an exposed seedling root ,,, contamination from hands, like tobacco and domestic chemicals, can kill the young seedling (use chopsticks). Ideally this process should be done in a dark-room/potting-shed , since seedling roots are also light sensitive. These measures will help increase germination results and viability of seedlings.

Hope this helps
