Rocks and Sauce: from Rosin

Has anyone heard about the rocks and sauce that are being produced from solventless extracts?

Terpenes are a solvent so you can still get crystallization from rosin as long as it still has a decent terpene content.

Does anyone have more information about this process?

I have heard of getting pure thc crystals with the right pressing technique, if you could collect the terps that separate then mix them

From what I've seen on Instagram people make bubble hash; press the bubble hash to make rosin; heat the rosin in a jar for a duration at a certain temperature; then let it sit on a heat mat for a while and the thc-a crystals form and separate from the terpenes which become a more runny liquid.

I gather they heat the rosin in an oven at around 200-220 F. I don't know how long. It seems different heating times can create different consistencies.

Some people claim they heat the rosin past the crystallization stage to make it all runny enough to put in carts.

This is just what I've gathered from Instagram; I've never attempted it.

Try searching for the hashtag #jartech or #solventless on Instagram for more info.

It looks like you know what your talking about Dr.NO. Thank you for your post.

I have my whole flower rosin from last year stored in a freezer in 4 gram jars, a bunch of them. Perfect for some good ole non scientific experimenting.

It seems like if it gets a little bit of heat after its been jarred, then its primed to sugar up.

If it gets more heat then the point where it sugars, then it gets more runny and clear. Won't sugar up after that point. Probably good to put into cartridges.

I don't notice any flavor difference no matter the treatment. Just visual appeal. The sauce and sugar are very appealing to look at and play with.

Again this is whole flower rosin, not hash rosin.

So does that mean you tried it? Sounds like you got somewhat close to what you wanted if you did. That sugaring you describe sounds like what some people call "caviar." Though, I don't fully understand their terminology.

I'm thinking the bubble hash rosin is cleaner and can produce better thc-a crystallization. It could just be the heating technique as well.

Experiment some more and let us know. Any images would be helpful too.

I've informally tried it. Here is a video of what my headgames rosin looks like after 1 month at room temperature (swinging between 60F and 90F daily).

Video is still loading on host site, I'll add it once its uploaded.

When I've put anything on a heat mat at 108F for more than 2 hours, it turns clear with no separation possible after that, probably best for putting into carts, but still dabs very nicely. Its just a different consistency, smokes the same.
