Ripest i've grown them in 20 years - Amnesia Haze

Amnesia Haze by Soma, Feminized, Regular Photoperiod
Organically grown - with bottled organic nutrients, BioCanna Vega
Outdoor

This is the ripest I have gotten outdoor weed in 20 years. I have good confidence that next year will be even better. :)

Even the popcorn buds have calyxes that are blown up like macaroni shells, and brown hairs.

That's in centimeters. The average calyx on this plant was about 5mm or 0.5 centimeters (1/5th of an inch) in size.

This year is going to be different. From last year's Amnesia Haze from Soma:

The beginnings of ripeness. Notice how all the calyxes have expanded to their maximum potential. Even on the lower buds in the background.

And more...

The last of the white hairs were turning red.

I'd say this is the future of weed growing. :)

Looks great, TM! Is this plant from cutting or seed? If it's from seed, maybe it's the pheno? But, I get the feeling you grew her from cutting... she looks dialed, my friend. You definitely have the touch with her either way... :canabis:

Actually I grew the motherplant from feminized seed, then took 4 cuttings, 3 of which survived.

And one of which turned out like this. :)

It worked again. 2024 - New York City Diesel from Soma, feminized seed.

Budrot, or extreme ripeness?

1728827760577.png

1728749547445.png

This is outdoor, so the cost was absolutely minimal - seeds, medium and a bottle of nutrients only.

Also notice there is no senescence of the plant, except maybe the calyxes. The leaves are still very green.

UPDATE

Resin maturing looks like budrot, however it isn't.

UPDATE II

The resin on the Amnesia Haze is slowly turning golden.

My plant of the year, which received very little light, and is proof positive that ripeness and plant senescence don't go hand in hand.

1728806527231.png

When the plant gets little light and seems to mature from the inside up. The tips are still showing white hairs, when the middle is very ripe.

How is the taste/smell on soma’s amnesia? They look gorgeous :tiphat:
Thanks. The smell and taste are slightly different than the Amnesia Haze, although both have a tendency to stay in the room.

I would describe the smell as perfumed, with a citrus smell that leans toward grapefruit rather than lemon. The effect is medium strong, although it does put you to sleep after a few hours.

UPDATE 2024 10 27

The weed is nice and strong and longer lasting. Waves of a developing high. It has dried more the resin has even matured/cured more. It still has to lose the chlorophyl/magnesium taste, however the smell is very nice, slighty perfumed.

I thought haze smelled like a shoe store?

Since i never tried a haze (that i know of), i've never understood what 'haze' aroma or flavor is all about. Maybe i've experienced it, but didn't know what it was. Maybe someday, there will be a good haze auto that will get tried, dunno if i'll ever do photos again.

My landrace strains are getting along.

Jamaican Lambsbread x Jamaican Blue Mountain – F4, from Kwik Seeds/The Real Seeds Company.

1730988596586.png

All I can say it grows like the real deal. Back in the 1970s, there were these album covers of Jamaican ganja, looking like long branches with buds foxtailing around them.

1731005144723.png

The branch is bent sideways, so the buds are growing upwardly towards the sun.

Like so, from High Times:

(UPDATE December 10, 2024)

The growth pattern is the same. This is on 2 A4 sheets, to compare for size.

UPDATE November 28th.

First plant to be harvested:

The quality of the pictures is a work in progress.

UPDATE December 19th, 2024.

The high is very uplifting. Finishing with high K - from woodash, which also contains sulfur - is very important for potency and terpenes.

Malawi Gold, November 18th.

The Malawi Gold and Lao Sa only started to flower in mid-September. I started flowering the Jamaica in July.

However... as un-filled out as the Malawi Gold is... it did get extra potassium in the form of a teaspoon of high K woodash. And this made the very small yield very ripe in effect.

It smells very strongly of mangos, and the effect is strong, dreamy.

UPDATE

Weed needs a finish with high K. High K woodash being the most neutral in taste. The smell is fantastic - strongly grapefruit, or citrus with diesel. The effect so far is uplifting to euphoric and glowing. There is no negative psychoactivity like comes from the usual Afghani or maybe just unripe weed.

The plant ended up finishing with water and woodash (NPK 0-0-30, possibly including some sulfur) as the last feed weeks before harvest, and didn't need to be flushed as a result.
