R.I.P. Paul Kantner... Your music meant so much to me when I was a teenager...

I feel lucky I got to see Jefferson Airplane in concert in 1972...When Jorma and Jack were still with them...
What an amazing show....

I hadn't heard shit about Kantner leaving us. Hell I guess you can't live forever huh? I saw the airplane in the summer of '71 in philly. A bunch of us fucked up GI's kept hollering at Gracie who was wearing a granny dress, show us your panties. She reached down to the hen of her dress and pulling it up over her head. Well the joke was on us she wasn't wearing any. She just pointed at us and laughed. Maybe that's why they were called the good old days.

Horrible news. I loved/love the Airplane. One of my favourite bands. They were one of those bands, like Country Joe and The Fish, who were of their time. I was of a later generation but my bro gave me all the albums of the period and the Airplane were the real deal.Their set at Woodstock is brilliant. I think 'After Bathing at Baxters' was their best album. Something magical about that time. Reminds me of the scene at the Isle of Wight festival 1970 when Desolation Row, a group of anarchists, demand a free festival and the organisers just tear down the fence and say 'yeah man youre right-its a free festival from now on'. Call me naive , nostalgic, but theres been a change for the worse. Modern Rock music is garbage compared to the late 60s , early 70s.
