Early this morning, a life-long dear old friend of mine lost his battle with that dreadful disease cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by friends & family, singing Bob Marley's classic "One Love" while high as a Georgia Pine from the Morphine Pump the doctors released full control of to him in the hospital.

His 6'5" thick frame made him look intimidating to those who didn't know him, however, Roger was one of the most kind & gentle people I've ever known. His personality could brighten even the most beautiful of days, but more importantly, was his ability to illuminate the darker moments for others, which we all must endure in our lives at times.

Over the many years I've been roaming this old world, I've shook a lot of hands, however, I never had many friends. Personally, like most things in my life, I've always preferred quality over quantity, and Roger was as good as they come.

You may be gone my brother, however, you shall never be forgotten.

God's Speed Big D.

Good, true friends are rarer than flawless diamonds - I haven't found one yet that has lasted a lifetime. Sorry for your loss - at least you have your memories.

Thank you all for the kind & comforting words.

Several years ago, late one night after a few too many scotches & smoke when I opened an account on ICMAG, I never thought it would bestow upon me so many good people who I sincerely care for, and whom most I've yet to ever met in person.

Even with my full life ( family, friends, golf, business, and all the little details of life) which keeps me busy, I always know when things it a little crazy in life, I'm always able to seek refuge from all the madness with you good people at ICMAG.

Thanks again!

Peace to you and yours, bro'.

May your friend RIP.

Thanks Brother!

In late September, I'm taking his ashes over to Ireland on our annual golf-holiday which my friend had taken part in the past 15+ years, of the 20+ years my family & friends have been making the trip, and we are going to spread a little of them on each of the several courses we play over the 2+ week golf pilgrimage.

That was what Roger wanted, and that is what he shall receive!

Thats really nice Trouble, sounds like a great place to put his ashes...I have some of my moms ashes that I have to take to the family farm and spread them where she grew up. She must have told me that a million times before she passed.
Thanks for sharing your friend with us :)

Good Day My Dear Lady, I hope all is well with you & the Babba Family!

I hate to admit this, however, back in 2000, I lost another dear old friend to lung-cancer, who was a Bookie in Pinehurst N.C., and he wanted several of our closest friends & golf mates to come to Pinehurst and play the #2 course there, and spread a little of his ashes on each tee-box & greens on all 18 holes of the course.

Anyway, with all our friends spread across the country it took me several months before all of us could get our schedules to coincide to meet in Pinehurst to accomplish our friends last wish. And for several months I drove around with my friends ashes in the trunk of my car:(

I've always had my cars washed & detailed every-week, and about a month before we all were able to meet and complete his wishes, I got tired of taking his ashes out of my car trunk each week and having to hold them in the waiting room of the auto-detailing shop while my car wash being serviced, and did put them inside my home for the last month or so.
