If you weren't in or from the south you may not know the name, but this man and his family are Nawlins royalty.
I first read about them in the late 70's and heard them for the first time in Nawlins in the 80's.
Their records were awesome but their live shows were LEGENDARY - just a sweaty good time dance fest that always ended too soon.
From Mardi Gras to Jazzfest, their fingerprints have been all over New Orleans and southern music for decades and while their fanbase has grown larger and larger, the big name acts that chose to play with them or invite them to guest on their records are a true testament to the respect that the rest of the music industry had for them as musicians and people.
