Right fan for the Can?

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if a Dayton 265 would be enough to exhaust a 7x8x7 room into a Can-33.

I am constructing a grow room in the next few day and need to start ordering my supplies. Here is a link to my thread about that in the BOG forums feel free to reply here or there.

Thanks, Peace.

What's the 6" Vortex 449Cfm going to be doing? A little confused on how you are intending to setup the fans.

Btw, I have that same fan and I'm starting to doubt it's running at 449cfm. Of course I just used the old hand test and compared the outflow from the Vortex and that of the 265 dayton. Sure felt like the dayton was moving more air to me.

I was planning at first to run the fans as follows:

The Vortex would vent the light heat with its own line of ventilation and the dayton would output the room odor/circulate new air by exauhsting through a Can Filter.

Not sure if this is the best or if i should just let my light fan be open on the inside and output to the Can? or would this be to hot for the Can?

Any input on this would help, Thanks.

Peace

Hi Cannabisseur. The Dayton 265 is a pretty loud fan compared to others on the market. Look into the Vortex/Elicent/Fantech if you want something more pleasing to your ear. It only took me about 3 seconds to change my mind on the Dayton 265. Anyways, I ended up with the Elicent AX 150b (309cfm).

I think the setup you have could be similiar to mine. I have my elicent fan cooling the lamps AND doing double duty exhausting to a carbon filter. Also have a passive setup outside of the grow room. The elicent's run 81-83w and I think that was the lowest (compared to the competion). The variable speed controls on fans has a slight "hum" to it and I don't know if it's on all fans or just the Elicents.

I don't know how your budget is but if odor is your concern, a dual setup of fans/carbon filter might be better in terms of efficiency.

Thanks for the reply Cheeba. So you have 1 fan exhausting the air through the light to Can?

What kind of light do you have and does heat become a problem for the fan or Can? I am thinking to use the 6" Vortex with a 1KW to a Can but im not sure if its enough cfm or if the 1k is too hot to run to a Can.

Thanks again.

Peace.

Yes I'm using 1 fan to cool the lamp then to a carbon filter. I'm using it to cool my PL Systems 430w aircooled (soon to be replaced by my 600w after this grow).

The Can CF-33 is rated around 200cfm so I don't even know if that's enough to cover your grow area efficiently and cool your lamp. As far as heat issues to the filter, I haven't had any problems at all. Unless you plan on doing some long ducting, this fan/filter should be sufficient.

hey there cannabissuer, I use a 33can with a 240 cfm inline fan attached atop and it recirculates in the grow area[grow shop dude said plants like clean air too] Guineapig has a thread in growers forums, heat removal, I listed me 5 fans and their placement. I'll check out your ohter thread also. goodluck :joint:

you'll have much better success hooking up a centrifugal fan like a vortex to that can 33, dayton are not that easy to hook up inline.... if your willing to cope with the sound i would say hook up your 265 with your light to vent the heat (make sure the intake is seperate from the room, going directly to your light else you'll exhaust odor through there) and pu the vortex on the can 33... this will be a more efficient setup.... you'll get more air circulating throughout your grow chamber , more air to yor plants... good luck and keep us posted!

Yall make it out like daytons are as loud as trains. I had 2 dayton 465cfm's running in a closet and my 1 440 eco-plus was alot louder then both of them.

I have always vented my lights through my carbon filter it is dual purpose . just push air into the room with a nother fan of the same capcity with a carbon filter on it u have to keep the air borne pathogens from coming in also

Thanks for the good suggestions everyone

Unfortunately I had to take my cat to the Vet so i had to scale back alil bit. I am gonna have to get a batwing light and only getting and a can33/vortex6" for room ventilation. My basement stays a bit cold in the winter anyways and aircooling the lights may have made it too cold, who knows  .

Either way my cat is doing very well after her proceedure and my grow should be starting close to the new year, I hope.

Thanks for the support, Peace.
