Right brain vs Left brain test

Do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise? ... [edit - sorry, COUNTER-clockwise for the Americans!]

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. It's interesting that the two sides of the brain are in some ways almost the opposite of each other ... for example whereas the left brain uses logic, the right brain uses feeling ... the left brain is detail oriented, the right brain is big picture oriented, etc etc.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction.

I tried this about a month or two ago and had no problems seeing it in both directions, but tonight I've had a few drinks and was just about to go to sleep and I've only been able to see her spinning clockwise (ie. im pretty much only using the right side of the brain)

LEFT BRAIN
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

Do you have a source for all this information? Or are you a neurology major? haha

Right brained! Left handed. I'm fairly certain most people's brains are opposite of what their dominant hand is.

i can see it both ways but at first i saw it counter clockwise.. then clock wise. i guess you could say initally my brain goes to logic.. but then switches and looks at the big picture... pretty neat.

Well, ALL NIGHT i've only been able to see her spinning clock-wise ..... wonder what that says about alcohol consumption!? .... when we're drunk does one half of our brain take over???
Because like I said, last month I had no problems seeing it both ways, sometimes changing almost right before my eyes, but tonight I can _only_ see her spinning clockwise

I cant see her spinning clockwise no matter how I try and tweak it,her head and entire nice boody spin to the left.

^that's no big surprise to me.

I couldn't see her spinning counter-clockwise untill after a few minutes, but clockwise always takes over quickly again.

OK I just got the clockwise by keeping her left leg stationary and looking at the right leg swing without looking at her entire boody. No big surprise to you?Thanks..I think.

OK thats a trick pic dammit.Every thirty seconds or so she changes direction I just caught it right in the middle of a change.

The American, heh you idiot. That's your brain tricking you, which is basically the whole point.

If you don't believe me simply open the image with any GIF editor and look at the individual frames, it's that easy.

GIF?I'm a SKIPPY fan, chunky or smooth.I know its pretty amazing it took me by surprise,I never looked at it long enough before.I think its your immediate reaction that determines which side of the brain is dominant.I am the professor.

Here are the individual frames in the GIF image - it's no hoax (click on the thumbnail image to see the larger image):

(And feel free to inspect the GIF with your own GIF editor to see the frames for yourself if you don't believe me, I just used GIF Movie Gear)

If it was a hoax then everybody here would be seeing exactly the same thing, whereas some people are saying she's clockwise, other's are saying counter-clockwise, some are saying they can only see her spin in one direction, others say they can see her spin in both directions, some are seeing they can see it one way once but then never again, etc...

There are a lot of weird images out there like this that test the brain, so don't be surprised that this kind of thing is real - not everything we see is as it seems

PS. By looking at the individual frames you can see that the dancer is in fact spinning in a clockwise direction.

When you first click on the pic it is moving then there is a quarter second pause, then she goes in one direction or the other the dizzy biatch.

When you first click on the pic it is moving then there is a quarter second pause
?? That's probably just because the image is quite large (~200kb) and takes a couple seconds to download so it may appear jerky at first until your web browser has downloaded the entire image - wait until she starts spinning smoothly.

I see it go in both directions, it switches from clockwise to counter clockwise periodically (usually after I look away from the screen), could be connected to me being ambidextrous.

Boxy Brown,
Interesting that you mentioned "could be connected to me being ambidextrous", and Insomniac said "Right brained! Left handed. I'm fairly certain most people's brains are opposite of what their dominant hand is."

I have no idea what relation there is between left-hand/right-hand dominance and left-brain/right-brain dominance but it wouldnt surprise me if there was a link
